    Oh my goodness she is so beautiful. Thank you for a great video. Am going to watch them all. Have a 11 weeks old kitten (bengal) that I want to train. Have started with treats and will get the clicker as well. If you have any tips on keeping your cat safe when they venture outdoors by themselves (I live in a house in the country side in the UK) that would be appreciated. Either way I'm already trying to get her comfortable with the harness as in a few weeks we'll be driving 500miles to Cornwall. Got a comfy car seat for her that will keep her secure, but so far being in the car is stressful for her. She was shaking by the time we got home the other day when we did a short journey to acclimatize her, poor thing. But she is super inquisitive and very intelligent and very very adorable. When we got home I tried to comfort her, stroking her, cuddling her, giving her treats...reinforcement training. Fingers crossed we'll make the car journey without incident.

Anyway he is the smartest cat we've had he knows how to open the cabinet doors we have one cabinet locked because him and his boys got into that cabinet while we were gone and they had catnip all over the floor they chewed threw it haha. He also puts his paws on my shoulders and loves on me, he will reach for me when I'm getting ready to go somewhere. But this video is helpful with kittens maybe in the future I can try these tricks.

  • @OutdoorBengal

    @OutdoorBengal

    7 ай бұрын

    There are a couple things you can do if you want to train your kittens together: 1) Use a different clicker sound (so that they don't confuse their "click" with their siblings) 2) Teach them different tricks (so they don't both do the trick at the same time) The other alternative, is locking one cat at a time. You can lock yourself with the cat you are training instead of the cat that it's not trained. That makes the experience for the cat that's alone nicer.

    I'd also say you can use a squishy toy! My babe is pretty food motivated, but sometimes he wants pets and attention instead, and sometimes he wants a quick play session. I've done ABA therapy with kiddos, and the most important thing is to use what motivates them, and that can be consistent, or change. Preference checks are great. If kitty isnt interested in treats, put out a couple toys and see if he goes for one. That'll be your motivator for the session. (I know training cats is a bit different, but it all still focuses on motivation and conditioning.)

    Hello! I have an 8 month old ragdoll and I have been trying to train her for a few months now (mostly with the leash and harness) but as a student I have struggled with consistency and sometimes I end up free feeding her. I really want to give training another shot as she is still young but I’m having a problem using her kibble as an incentive. She only seems to be motivated by wet food, and even rejects dry treats. Wet food is difficult and messy to use with training, so do you think i should try to transition her completely to dry food before I proceed with training?

  • @OutdoorBengal

    The best way to stop unwanted behavior is divided in 3 parts: - Understand the WHY - Offer an ALTERNATIVE - REWARD for using the alternative I explain this system, how to teach the word no and how to stop your cat from jumpin on counters or door dashing in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aWeG0JtvY8qtlLQ.html If you are more of a reader, take a look at this blog post: www.outdoorbengal.com/blogs/correcting-cat-behavior/teaching-no-to-your-cat-to-stopping-unwanted-behaviors

    hello! i am Beth from Venice (italy) , everything happened by chance, I was looking for two cats after the death of my two beloved cats, and through a shelter I was offered two Bengals, I knew nothing about their particularities, I jumped in, once I met them I understood how much effort they required. They were the ones who taught me how to behave, but now I would like to introduce them to training also because they need constant stimulation and this strengthens our bond. One of my cat goes out alone,I play with them for a long time, yet nothing satisfies Langos' curiosity (Only one is allowed to go out freely, luckily the other is a gentle guy and is satisfied with little) I don't know if I did it right. I tried to give him my best but he was never satisfied. I have a huge garden, a tree house,a room at home fully equipped just for them, I take him out on a leash. he always runs away and always comes back but I'm always anxious and worried.

    As long as you see your cat remembers, no need to charge the clicker per se. The training itself will do the job. If you spend a long time without training, then yes, charge for a bit, then train!

    We rescued a 4 week old kitten a couple weeks back, she's hitting 7 weeks soon and she's incredibly smart already. I wanted to start charging the clicker with her today but you mentioned to not start till 12 weeks. Can you elaborate?

  • @OutdoorBengal

    @OutdoorBengal

    2 жыл бұрын

    Until they are 12 weeks there are other priorities for the kitten like playtime, litter training and teaching them to come when called. Clicker training can be mentally demanding and kittens don't have the patience to do so. It can become frustrating for both cat and cat parents. I hope this makes sense!

    Great question! If you have more than one cat, there are several things you can do: - Train them different tricks at a time. - Try to have two clickers with different sounds as well. A pen does a click different. That might work. If that doesn’t work, you can do it in separate rooms

    i'd like to teach my cat its name and let him come when i call. he's 5 months old. what you didn't mention specifically is at what point do you stop using the clicker, and at what point do you stop giving treats?

  • @OutdoorBengal

    @OutdoorBengal

    You should continue giving treats every now and then. It's called intermitent reinforcement. that keeps the cat motivated to listen. They don't listen because of the treats, they listen for the expectation of the treat. Make sure the expectation stays strong.

    Question: if you have multiple cats, do you say their name before the command, so they know who is being given the order? (I mean, that seems likely…)

  • @OutdoorBengal

    @OutdoorBengal

    5 ай бұрын

    There are a couple things you can do if you want to train your kittens together: 1) Use a different clicker sound (so that they don't confuse their "click" with their siblings) 2) Teach them different tricks (so they don't both do the trick at the same time) The other alternative, is locking one cat at a time. You can lock yourself with the cat you are training instead of the cat that it's not trained. That makes the experience for the cat that's alone nicer.

    Don't reward the behavior, let them try but never let the treat go until they stop trying to bite, then click and reward. They'll quickly learn that biting does not get what they want. Also, if you are looking to continue progressing, consider checking our training cards game: amzn.to/47oBlfh
