Love these videos! Glad I discovered them. Also, how do you get them to come when you don't have a treat? Like if they are used to getting a treat everytime but you don't have one on you, will that ruin their conditioning and get them to stop coming in the future?

I can’t wait to train our cat, hopefully getting in in three weeks time!! I also watch a video from a veterinarian saying cats respond to high pitch sounds so naming your cat or having a nickname that ends high is helpful. You can basically say any word that ends high to get their attention.

I have 7 cats who enjoy our back garden in the good weather. They ALL come when I call them whether inside or out. My neighbours are used to hearing me call my cats from my back door. I sometimes give them treats for coming inside but not always. My cats were trained from Day 1 to come when called. They receive pets and hugs and kisses when they come to me. I'm the only cat mum in the neighborhood who does this and no doubt people think I'm odd but I never have to worry about my cats going astray.

I have two cats- Cleo and Bobby. Your videos for me are beautiful to look at and encribly endearing. We lived in an apartment with my husband which we sadly lost but we never taught them tricks. They cuddled and played every day running around a small place. Now they have a big garden with lots of neighbours around with equally big gardens. I think you are fantastic with the amount of love you've put into Mia. My babies run away now for half the day, no interest in me at all! We'll no, the brilliant thing about cats is their individuality. The older one came from a shelter, the younger one a year later from a neighbour. He had 6 siblings so you can imagine the difference in the personalities! Cleo is very refined, a lady while Bobby is a thug! I just wanted to say, I love your and Mia's stories ❤

This is so profound. Im starting the new year wit Archi(bald Tobiaz). My late 14yr old learned that a sardine treat was coming when the sound of the tin opener sounded. Where ever he was, he would come running when I used the tin opener...my joy was to give him a treat for all his vigorous expectation.

Even if you have a cat that isn’t primarily food motivated keep looking for a treat they can’t resist! I finally tried high quality freeze dried duck & mackerel and it makes all the difference. I break the small pieces even smaller and only use them for training (these treats are not cheap). This has accelerated our clicker training!

Hi Albert, thanks a lot for all your videos. I have a couple of general questions on training. The first is: when can I stop using the clicker (that is, when can I assume the desired behavior is so ingrained in the cat that the association with the sound is not necessary anymore)? And, similarly, when can I stop giving the cat a treat (or doing it only occasionally)? My point is that I wish my cat to come to me whenever I call him, without having to keep a treat available at any time.

Cats generally learn everyone’s names by just listening to conversations. (They pretend they aren’t listening.) They come when they feel like it.

Heads up, this may be long, sorry! Just wanted to say I appreciate you explaining the purpose behind liking your video. Almost every KZreadr ends their videos with a reminder to like nowadays, but it’s something I’ve tended to ignore because it has often seemed like the sole purpose behind their request was self-promotion. No judgment, if you’re trying to make a living on KZread, I understand the importance of getting enough views to pay rent (or feed your fur friend 😊). Same with sponsor deals. When I find a KZreadr who seems genuine and honest and whose content I enjoy / think is beneficial, I do want to promote their individual success. But it’s nice to hear you explain that liking also helps other viewers know your video was helpful & helps you reach more people. It sounds like you have thought about a deeper purpose behind your channel, beyond just personal fame/success. It’s awesome to see someone approaching their work with a sense of mission (i.e. cats can be adventure buddies too!) & on a more personal note (please forgive the tangent haha) - as someone who always thought themselves a dog person but stumbled into rescuing a cat first... it’s a mission I really appreciate, since I love being outdoors / camping / adventuring, and want to share that with my lil’ furball. Not just to have a companion, but also to broaden and enrich his shorter time on this planet. Now that we’re thinking of getting a puppy too, le hubz & I are also trying to figure out how to ensure we treat them both with equal care/attention (and maybe even help them become buddies). It would sort-of break my heart to bring our puppy everywhere and leave our cat home alone. All of this is a long-winded way of saying that your videos have been especially helpful for me. & that I appreciate the respect you show to your viewers in explaining the worth of their support to you. Thanks for that. It actually made me pause to like (and subscribe) 👍 Wishing you continued success, haven’t seen another channel like this (Jackson Galaxy is great, but he’s a bit more general, I appreciate your focus on getting cats outdoors). Will be passing along your videos to any cat-owning friendos who need ‘em

My cats have known their names, and my cats have all come when I called them. I don't recall teaching them anything, all I did was Love Them.

I also do this but I just brought her everywhere with me since I got her at 8 weeks and now when I walk towards the door she jumps on my shoulders ready to come with, she follows me everywhere even when we are outside and all I did was love her and take her with me everywhere from the start

Yes, I have successfully done this with my 4 Cats, 1 a 2 year old Mother with 3 7 month old teen cats .I simply kept saying their names when around them since kittens including the Mother. Just continuous saying their names. I can call them 1 by 1 and they respond as is, lol. I may end up making video but this is common for cat owners.

Found a black 🐈‍⬛ in November, named him Haru. My building doesn't allow pets. He has learned that I call him Haru, if I need to find him all I need to do is go to his spot and call out his name, he will come running and often time will announce himself to get my attention. He even knows my building and will wait for us sometimes. Cats are so intelligent.

Hi. Thanks for all your videos. I’m loving them. I’ve recently got two kittens approx 11 weeks old (from two different litters). I’m wondering if you have any tips or tricks for clicker training two kittens at the same time? I don’t want one to think I’m rewarding negative behaviour when I’m trying to reward the other ones positive behaviour? Thanks

Very good video. I didn't had to train my cat, but my cat knows his name, and run to me when called. Sometimes if he feels like he doesn't want to, then he don't, but im fine with it... the reason i don't train my cat because i want my cat to be a cat he wants to be, not something i want it to be... he just does his cat things.

We have a mom cat and her two daughters. They understand their names since they were young. And they understand everything like, no, get down, be nice like no scratching, they come when they're called, and be nice to the dogs. And they listen.

My kitten Tigger, just automatically learned his name and comes when I call him. I didn't have to train him. I also didn't have to train him to use the litter box. From the first day he just knew to always poop and pee there. He is such a disciplined boy. But he is such a scamp too. You can see him in my video on my channel

My cat is also named Tigger I found him at my apartment complex I been feeding him for 2 months along with other residents. Found out upstairs neighbors threw him and his sibling out. I would call him and he would automatically come from out of the woods when I called him. He automatically responded.
