Dawn less than 40% of the cost of BH surfex HD - a great all round degreaser and wax stripper. When I was a kid we cleaned the white wall of my dads car with comet or Ajax
A great throwback to Waxmode videos! Good prewash in the foam canon.excellent value

Always been happy using dawn liquid clean well with no adverse affects
Dawn Dish Soap is one of the Best Household Degreasers on the market and safe to use on Powder Coated Undercarriage Parts such as the Suspension, and Powder Coated Wheels and especially Chrome Plated Parts and Wheels.
Good tires will always have some minor brown coating. It’s the wax that is blended into the rubber during manufacturing. It keeps the rubber from getting cracks. The amount of scrubbing you did- about anything would be an effective cleaner.

Good to know! That’s why I also tried Dawn full strength to see if there is a difference! But if that’s the case, then one pass would be good enough with Dawn.
Wow looks good
Gets all the oily ducks clean, should be gentle enough on your wheels and tires. 😂
do you know if chemical guys galactic black wet tire shine ,can cause tires to crack over time?
One tip. Spray the solution on both the wheel & tire. Scrub the tire before rinsing. Only need to rinse the wheel before scrubbing. The tire needs to be sprayed & scrubbed dry. Get more dirt off. Try this next time. I agree in a pinch it works well but I wouldn’t recommend for regular use. Just my humble opinion

I have 5 cars at home and detail them often, I been using Dawn on my wheels for the past 20 years with no problems what so ever. Hot water and Dawn works awesome.
Occasionally, I will you Comet bathroom cleaner on very dirty towels. Back in the day, we used it on white wall tires. Dawn is advertised as a degreaser, why would it be different from other degreasers? As long as your mixture is proper?
I've been using dish soap on on cars since 1976. Then someone came with the idea of "car wash" soap and selling it for 1500% more, and we can't stop buying it.

Any dish soap strips the paint of any wax! So unless you like to wax your car each and every time after you wash, younare doing harm to your paint finish!!! And you didn't even know it!!!😂😂😂

@@LWRC Ya, I know it. I haven't had a wax last longer than 1 - 1 1/2 months anyway. How often do you think I wash my car by hand??.......Twice a year. And I wax twice a year. Get the details before you judge another person's actions.

@@TheBeatenPaths So the wax was basically worthless anyway!!!

@@LWRC For what you get out of it, yes. A good cleaning compound/clay to clean down to the paint, then a polish for shine. Wax doesn't prevent rust or make the polish shine last. Nor does keep paint from fading. I can't remember the last time I've seen faded paint....and there's LOTS of people not waxing their car..

You seem to have missed the point of care soap / auto shampoo, which is to minimize scratching the paint. Of course, if this is no concern to you, by all means continue using dish soap and save some $$.
what did you put on those rims prior to this cleaning application? Cleaning the TRD Rims are awful

They are ceramic coated with CARPRO DLUX
Any well known good kitchen degreasing detergent works just as good as Dawn and is less expensive. I have always used Palmolive for one example.
Krud cutter on the tires will strip all of the grime off with ease
I wanted to see a dry tire at the end.
More proof that proper dilution matters
Why would dawn scratch your wheels.. It's soap..If anything would scratch the wheels it would be the brushes dragging dirt particles.. The tire was pretty cleaned off with the hose alone .. LMFAO.

I know… but I had to cover that in the video because there is a misconception out there that Dawn doesn’t provide lubrication, others think it’s abrasive?!
Don't use it on your paint. It cleans really well if you want to clean the surface for paint prep but that's because it takes off all the wax that is there to protect your paint. The paint will fade over time
My understanding is Dawn dries out rubber and plastic. While it may be fine to use on occasion, can't imagine a weekly wash would be good or more people would be using it?

Also- you just spent 12 minutes per tire? That's more than 40 minutes on just your tires when many dedicated tire/wheel cleaners can greatly reduce this time/per tire?

Great observation! However in reality I spent 12 minutes on a video demonstration on how to clean a wheel. There is a big difference there!
4:09 You have to let the wheel dry to see the difference. A dirty car always looks better after it's sprayed with water.
I mis -typed, it should be tires not towels...
Talk about a strip wash eh?
Aboot?
a lot of work for just one wheel

Just to clarify, this is a 12 minute demo video which involves testing different methods and explaining the process. It doesn’t actually take this long to clean a wheel.
