Our hope at this point was that the boat only needed a new head gasket, but as we tore into it, and tested the heads for leaks, it was clear that we needed to either buy new heads and valves, or seriously recondition this one.
Luckily, a friend of ours is a skillful genius who showed us how to recondition and clean our heads and how to hone the valve seats. Instead of buying a new set of valves and springs, we learned how to do a DIY valve grind.
