    This is a rally car it goes under enormous stress mechanically. Torque specifications are immensely important if you don't want your driver to die. I should also say these guys aren't your normal mechanics, these guys are specialty technicians who can drop a gearbox or engine in a matter of minutes.

    Serious question. Are the tolerances on the suspension setup so tight that you don't need to carry out a wheel alignment on the car once changing all the suspesion over. I'm guessing all the alignment is set on the new suspension before it's fitted to the car.

  • @AlessioAndres

    @AlessioAndres

    they have electronic adjustment of the suspension. the adjustment is always unequal and happens automatically only by balancing the weight distribution on each wheel. the direction is also adjusted automatically by the data provided from a resort while pulling "left-right" a few times at cruising speed. the computer manages the forces to be equal. it's not "wow, high-tech!" 😛

    When you do something all the time , you get quicker every time,and having mechanics on each corner makes time even quicker, im a mechanic by trade and iv removed and replace a clutch kit in a 6 speed vw golf in an hour, thats because I was that use to doing them I knew the size of the bolts, where they was, what rachet to use,what sockets to use ,extension bars

    @@cek0792 That's pretty much the case. Years ago, Top Gear (magazine) did a challenge in which 4 teams each had to build a Caterham and do 1 lap of a circuit in the shortest time possible. One of the teams was of mechanics from the Ford BTCC racing team - after 45 minutes they'd built the majority of the car, but fitting the electrics, dashboard etc took a while longer. I think in the end it took them about 90 minutes in total to have it finished and do a lap of the circuit. Pretty impressive stuff. The other teams didn't fare as well...
