Haven't done discs and pads on my mk2 yet but plenty of drums and shoes. Thanks for the tips - now I can do do all the brakes on my car :D

amazing video Tim! this year I should finally get my mk2 16v gti back on the road after being off since 2013, all it needs in a new front license plate as well as an emissions check and it should pass the mot.

Great video Tim! Its definitely been cold here in the UK and I haven’t had the motivation to get out to work on the Mk2 Golf in an unheated garage 😬. Starting to warm up slightly now though so hoping to get on with some jobs soon. Cheers, Pete.

Nice job. What I've been up to for the winter. Rust repair on the rear-front wheel arches of my kid's MK2 and Mk4 front rocker panel repair. Seems like nothing else.

Another good video.. I've just done Matrix and heater box repair a couple off days ago.... Then saw your video off it yesterday... Doh Did it quite similar to you with spray glue and foam but wash all mine in the kitchen... I've got the bug now getting it ready for it coming out of hibernation.... About to put a new radiator fan on... Do you recommend in uping the wattage on the fan?

Nice work. Probably one of the most feared jobs on ma mk2 so well done. I’ve never had an issue with temps on a standard fan. If you’re going to push it hard then it can’t hurt. I’ve always gone for a big Gtd radiator for extra cooling.

Great video, thanks Tim. Where did you source the bits from please? Mine is a GTI but like yours has been standing a LONG time and although I’ve done the fluid I think best to add some new pads and discs all round!

Thanks Michael. The discs and pads were from GSF and the bolts were from eBay - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-11-Vw2-Brake-Caliper-Bolts-Mk2-Golf-gti-Scirocco-Mk2f-Polo-G40-Mk3-Polo-/133648910037?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

I'm finding this a pig of a job. Son's Mk 2 neglected in Garage for seven years. Brake shoes /discs were brand new at time and wouldn't move (Bleeder nipple too rusty to try) Bolts came out OK and banged off Caliper with force. Couldn't see that Piston would return any further than already seen?. Needed to bang Caliper to get back on even after tidying off rust and clamping piston. Now Bolts won't line up to screw holes. Doh! Tap bang Tap bang. Caliper off again I fear. How I hate this Golf!
