Lots of Euro lately! Hope you guys enjoy this one, I've known Joe for years and somehow we've never shot a video until now. (@joeschmoez on IG) Maybe we can do more?! If you guys would be into that please let me know! Apologies for the weird audio changes going on. This was the last video I shot with this mic, I promise you! :D

I've owned my VR6 since 2005 and love her more everyday.
My buddy had a 89' Dodge Omni which is practically the same body design as the VW. Had all the Shelby edition cosmetics and a crazy sized supercharger. That car was fun. Felt like a rocket whipping you back where you had to strain yourself moving forward while pulling thru gears.
Love it! I own a VR6 MKII GTI myself. I was content with it as is. But after watching this, I may have to hunt down a supercharger.

My very first car was a 91 golf and I loved it. After highschool I moved over seas for a while then came back state side and was going to college. Saw my car in the parking lot and waited for whomever was driving it to come outside. Finally she came out and I asked if she'd be willing to sell it back to me but she refused. Can't say I blame her. That car was such a sleeper. No one guessed how fast my car was and was always shocked when I left em in the dust. Man I miss that car

This takes me back to the early 2000’s when my cousin was all about Volkswagens and got me into it when I was around 13yrs old, at 14yrs old I had already owned 2 rabbits, one was a orange 1978 rabbit, and the other was a silver 1984 rabbit gti with the burgundy cloth interior..and my cousin went through many and I mean many Volkswagens, he’s had mk2 scirocco’s with the 16v motor, he owned a bad ass red 1980 rabbit truck with a semi built and cammed 16v motor that ran low 13’s which was pretty fast at the time, and he also owned a few turbo aba rabbits, and a supercharged vr6 corrado, they were fun little cars that’s for sure! Now my cousin is into banshees and I moved onto Hondas and mustangs lol And yes I would say the golden age of Volkswagen was everything from a mk1 chassis to the mk4 chassis! The golden era of all consumer based cars has past. Prove me wrong
@Fco_Arana
25 күн бұрын
That is partly on the consumers themselves, we have tech to make bulletproof engines today that would make great platforms for modification or that would last for 100,000s of miles with basic maintenance, but most buyers only want a car that lasts three to five years until they trade it in for a new model with more features they don't need.
Thanks! Love for the bros

Yes the golden age of VW has passed , imo, with the end of the Mark 5 R32. In the 90s we thought VW would never make a turbo car. The Mark 8s are not that good looking imo. Dubs were always boxy, even the new badges show no continuity with all previous badges. Especially the R badge, it plain sucks. Now all VWs have way too many buttons. And thet arent even buttons in the traditional sense, its jst flat and gives haptic feedback. Im 49 and have had every model from Mark 1s to now a Mk4 R32. The Vr is linear all the way. And if your gonna daily your car its bound to have a few nicks and scratches. It usta drive me nuts, considering my VW is super clean in and out. I got over it

I do not miss K-tronic, CIS or Digifant fuel injection. IMHO, the last fun VW to tune was the MK3. I remember buying cams, chips and exhausts for cheap. Now you have to pay $350 for a tune, $800 for a cat back system. Yeah, we blew up more engines back then but it was cheap fun.

Mk4's were shithot. The mk7.5 isn't too bad compared to whatever this new one is they came out with but it's only really engaging with a manual box as the dsg is soulless like most flappy paddle cars these days are.

The golden age of Volkswagen has certainly not passed. The modern GTI's, while not as "raw" as this, will certainly outperform it in pretty much every way. Don't get me wrong, this MK2 is amazing and I would love to own it, but I'm just being realistic here. I get that people get more of a visceral feeling from classic cars, but at the end of the day it's just a feeling. Objectively cars are getting better and better. And in another 30 years, people will probably look at the MK6 or MK7 as the golden age of Volkswagen. Just my opinion.
I have a VR5 Mk4 Golf and I absolutly love it. When I step on the trottle i can hear the air rushing throgh the Intake and even at 200km/h it feels like im gliding over the road. And I think after that it only went down hill. The styling got worse and the bit of insantiy that brougt us things like the VR5, VR6 and a 130hp in the Mk2 GTI got lost.
You can't beat the Vr6 in a Mark 2 and boosted ? Fugetaboutit. Yea the head doesn't flow as well as other 6 cyl. They are bulletproof if maintained, and it's a Euro which means a special quality yup the golden age was over with the Mark4. And yea you cant beat the feel of a 20 30 yr sports car. I'm stoked I'm lucky I was able to get her so clean, and the reliability has been rock solid, it's my daily.

Only thing I didnt necessarily agree with is VW golden age passing. Maybe in the 🇺🇲 but having just lost a mk7 TDI that thing was amazing to drive and barely felt more vanilla than my older chassis VW. Early 2000s they lost their touch but had some good chassis. Vw really had an issue when blending more Audi around this era
