Great job doing the videos & catching some monster Cats. I live in Iowa just 45 minutes from the Missouri river. And I just bought a heavy duty Kast King rod and size 5000 reel. Can't wait for warmer weather to try some of your tips. Thanks for the tips. I would love to know what part of the Mighty Mo river you go to?

I love braided line but I had to stop using it in all my rigs except one because it was digging itself down on the spool during hard fights & making the next cast very problematic with the line getting bound up under other wraps. I did spool one Daiwa Sealine 50H on a 10ft meat hunter rod with 200lb simply because of its large diameter & hoping it doesn't do it but on the other rigs I've went back to mono and haven't had that issue anymore. Something else I've learned is that for Blues circle hooks are fantastic except for leaving a lot of fish with just one eye but for flatheads due to mouth shape and strike style kahle hooks or big river "j" type hooks where you're suspending a live fish works better for me, I'm not saying circle hooks won't work but the kunsilane "big river bait hook" is a better hook for large flatheads that have a wide narrow mouth, unlike the more rounded mouth of a blue cat. You let the flathead start to turn away from the initial bite then set the hook & you'll hammer most flatheads that way.

I caught 3 trophy sized blue cats in 4 days in Maryland. I used 5o hooks with jello chicken. Ill never fish that well again but it was rad.

you seem like a great young man and have peaked my interest in getting back into fishing I want to relearn a lot of stuff has changed since I quit doing it and I want to be able to teach my grandson.I enjoy your videos you're one of the few guys that can keep my attention more than a few minutes. I myself am more interested in catching the eating size catfish than the trophies but I sure enjoy the videos I guess I wouldn't mind if a big Whopper LoL keep up the good work

Nice video man...Been a long time subscriber of yours. I'm looking to eventually get a boat for fishing the MO river but am limited to getting a smaller setup like yours. If you ever find the time, a video on how you navigate the river and stay safe in a smaller boat as well as where and how to anchor up that'd be really helpful! Thanks for the videos keep 'em coming.

Sorry i don't fish that area. I would look for bank access areas near windikes or creeks flowing into the River.
