Hi Agatha, Thank you so much for what you do. You explain so well and I'm new to all this and I'm learning so well. If I may, is the spreadsheet only for that bond or have you formulated it in a way that I can use it for any other bond ?

Considered opinion on the taxes here... If they go ahead with the implementation, just hopeful that they do the 15% on the foreign investors. This might actually work out much better for locals. When you consider that IFBs attract a lot of foreign investors, those who do not scatter will now bid at a higher rate to compensate for taxes. This uplifts rates for everyone, including the locals, who only have to pay a fraction of the taxes. This achieves 2 goals, incentivizing more locals to invest while basing more of the debt in KSHs, a win for the country in all directions by keeping all benefits local.

Thanks, @WealthTribe, for raising this. The 2024 Finance bill is a proposal; obviously, as investors, we would not be happy with this planned 5% WHT. The question is, where do we submit our objection to this idea? And second, will they listen and drop that idea?

I noticed a huge discrepancy in the interest rate calculated on the recent IFB 6.5 yrs coupon. But CBK corrected it. Check your bank account first for the correction before calling CBK.

Hi, Agatha, This video on Infrastructure Bond was super informative, Would you mind to do one on normal T-Bills and Bonds with the 15% Wth Tax and let's see how much the interest is because the IFB doesn't come very often. If it'll be possible and Okay with you, Kindly do the 91Days, 181Days and the 365Days. 2. I have this question I don't know if you'll be able to answer. On the 91Days T-Bills do they also pay twice the same way they pay semiannually of the 365Days Bill and after 3Months on the 181 Days T-Bill?

in this example you used simple interest method to calculate the accumulations, which investments use the compounded interest method? Thanks for educating us🙏

It's not written outright but what I have shared is the interpretation 😃 That's how CBK does it.

Yes, it'll apply to every interest. For example, for this bond, If someone invested KES 100, 000, their interest would be KES 18,460.70. The tax would be 5% of the KES 18,460.70

Hey Agatha, I have a somewhat dumb question. Can you invest in two bonds at the same time? For instance, assuming you have 2mil, can you split this amount and buy 2 bonds worth 1mil each (this is probably for people who'd like to take advantage of the shorter 3 year redemption period.)

I take these educational videos very seriously. In the next 3 months I have different bills and bonds coupon payments happening every week. My plan is to use government securities as my retirement plan. So I am always reinvesting the interest to take advantage of compounding. I always pray for the government so that it does not fail, lol, because they are my retirement plan. Of course I diversity with land and Sacco's. The examples that you give in the video, if the 5M investor put back the interest paid every 6 months to another bond or T.Bills, then you have this snowballing effect and after the 8.5 years the gains would be huge.

at first you need a dhow cssd account... you can make a transfer from your bank to credit your central bank dhow account.let the bank teller know you are making a bond payment for that specific bond

If you bid and fail to make payment a few times (3 or more), they'll ban you from investing for a while. I met a Wealthriber in Qatar whose CDS account was deactivated because he failed to pay 4 times 😁

A 5% WHT is not a bad thing. It's better than the 15% WHT on T.Bills. I wish our taxes were put into good use.
