Don't give up calling CBK for the documents. After multiple attempts someone kind picked up the call and told me she will follow-up on my email. She did....and I got the documents in one day. Thank you so much for your help and advise Agatha.

Just to add on, their initial email response was that they cannot provide documents since they are all posted on their site under forms. I responded back and showed them a screenshot of the forms tab where there were no such documents listed. Woke up to an email with documents attached. Grateful

Golden in formation, if i open CDS account via our local commercial banks how can i check or verify if they have bought the bonds for me? Secondly can i use the same cds account lets say i want to buy bill or bonds directly? thanks

A CDS account through a bank is called a Nominee Account. The bank will provide the documentation as proof when you invest through a nominee account. No, you cannot use a nominee account to buy bills & bonds directly. By using a nominee account, you will pay management fees to a bank for every investment, which is why I recommend setting up an account directly with CBK. Hallo, thank you for making our work easier. I am in diaspora and i do have a local bank. However i don't save on the account as often thus less cash in it. My question does the account need to have the required amount that i intend to invest? Two can the payments be done through mpesa when my bid is accepted.

Hi Grace, there's no cash requirement in the bank account. No, you can't pay through M-PESA. You'll transfer money to the local account then send the money to CBK through an RTGS transfer. Send me an email via agatha@thewealthtribe.com if you need more help.

Thank you Agatha for taking your time to bring us such informative presentation. I'm a Kenyan in diaspora and got my CDS account while in Kenya; though didn't do any transaction until I flew out. While in diaspora I successfully bid for the T bills but couldn't effectively wire the amount to my virtual account coz I'd challenges with my commercial bank's mobile banking app, thus I couldn't beat the value date deadline. I understand that this's a breach of CBK rules pertaining T Bills. My question is am I legible for the investments anymore? My second question is that between my real names and my portfolio/cds number, which one do I put when asked for ACCOUNT NAME in the process of making payments for the Treasury Bills. Hi Ronald, About your eligibility, you'd need to write to CBK through primaryissues@centralbank.go.ke Explain what happened then ask them if you're eligible to invest.

Hi, Central Bank discontinued this manual process of opening a CDS account. We're waiting for them to launch the digital process: this means that for now, you can't open an account. I'll create a video guide when they launch it. About the time frame: if you don't invest in a bond within a year, your CDS account becomes inactive.

Thank you for your presentation.But I have some questions. What is the difference between CSD account and vertual account? During the period of issuance what is the debt account? CSD account or vertual or the normal/cash account to transfer the money to CBK from from your account? During maturity the CBK credit on which account from the above listed account?

Hi Jane, If you're in Kenya, the process was that you should physically go to CBK offices, collect the 7 forms, fill them manually and return to CBK but they have since changed the process and we're waiting for them to launch the digital process.

How do I do a top up of a bond? I hear in multiple of 50 but how do I just send money in my virtual account?

You send money to your virtual account through a bank transfer: either EFT or RTGS transfer. Contact your bank to provide specific instructions on how to go about it

A tap sale is a bond resale from a previous issue. The bond is offered at the original average weighted coupon rate, maturity, face value but sold at current market price.
