@@S3l3ct1ve In my area, you can sometimes get free houses on Craigslist. They're "doublewide" and sometimes "triplewide" trailers. I remember one in pretty good condition. it was built in 1986 or something. about 160 square meters. Our government, however, makes it too expensive to install for most people. The cost of the water meter, which they will not allow you to install yourself, costs over $30,000 to have the water company install. The government doesn't allow you to forgo a water meter, among the various other requirements.

Buying the car that some body shop decided that it's not worth fixing is always a good idea. Especially if they didn't forget to make it look better before taking the pictures, so it reaches higher price. If it happened to also not drive then it's like hitting a jackpot.
Glad to hear it worked out for him. Glad to hear Tesla is working out the parts for salvage repair issues and keeping more of these cool cars on the road and affordable for those with initiative to own one with a little elbow grease. Very cool video.
Those scratches on the bottom may be from the forklifts the insurance yards use to move the cars around all the rows.

If you can’t afford 26k on a car that costs 55k but still retains all of its superior traits over regular cars, you must be in a decent amount debt and/or don’t have a decent job. In 2018 there was a 2 part performance package first part was dual motor plus performance, 2nd was 20" wheels and tires, performance brake, lowered springs, fiber rear spoiler and aluminum pedals, I believe the tire wheel package predates the staggered 20".
You have to include need of a working garage place but still that's given. Awesome story

A few things you might want to consider before you just think of $$$$ signs and getting a cheap Model 3 - or any damaged car. 1: Buying a car that an insurance company has decided is too expensive to fix is a precarious proposition for even a competent mechanic. 2: Replacing a $1:80 bumper clip is simple. Finding out that you have to replace wiring looms, AC lines and components, even one of those overly-complicated door handles...that is for a professional mechanic. 3: Tools tools tools. I cannot stress enough that if you are going to work on your own "cheap" Tesla, you are going to need many specialist tools. More $$$$$ 4: We have not even spoken about the riskiest part yet - the body of the car. Doors that don't align anymore, creases in the roof, front panel gaps that are different all point to a vehicle that requires valuable time on a rack. A tin of Bondo is not going to fix any of these problems. This legitimate gentleman claimed that he bought a $55K car for $25K - which sounds impressive. The truth, however, is slightly different. It was $55K once. A quick search and you can find an identical spec car undamaged for $46K. He also has a car with substantial accident history, a badly-repaired rear fender, so how many people who look at it if he tried to sell it for more than he spent? Which you know he would. I am not saying that you can't get a cheaper Tesla with cosmetic damage. As I said at the start though, unless you are a professional, cosmetic damage is all that you should buy. Otherwise, you may end up spending $5K less on a car that you could have purchased undamaged. Written by a fully-qualified Commercial Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and self-confessed car lover.

That is very important information should have come from Rich rebuilds in the first place ,this while advertising for credit companies and used car web sites in my opinion does not shed a very good light on this website.I would not be surprised if his full time job is in sales.If it would only be about the technical side of repairing E- cars the representation should be more down to the point and less confusing.
@timsmith854
4 жыл бұрын
@@planpitz4190 Thank you for your comment. The points that I brought up are the last thing "Rich Rebuilds" wants you to think about. These channels use the magic of editing, just like television vehicle restoration shows to make sure that everything ends up good. They don't want you to even think about the fact that the damaged car you buy quite often costs way more to fix than you estimated. I agree that he encourages people to buy cars they cannot afford with credit from his sponsors. Oh, something that I forgot to mention in my original post. NEVER EVER buy a flood-damaged Tesla - even if it just up to the carpet. They are cactus even after a shallow swim.
@m-khs-1748
3 жыл бұрын
@@timsmith854 1) I was able to view the car and inspect it before I bought it. First thing I look at are the body lines all around the vehicle and this particular vehicle all the parts that were damaged were taken off so I could really view what was going on. I actual own 5 cars now that I repaired, the trick is finding the right car with the right damage, If you have ever done this you would know how they wright these estimates up. Most people don't want the car back especially when its a late model and 3800 miles. You have to know what to look for on the car and the insurance report, in this case the battery was a big component of the estimate ($15000) and it had a few scratches on it so they still have to wright in a battery. 2) Its funny you mention ac lines because I did have to replace them. Just bolted on, very easy and so were the door handles 3) as far as tools, What specialty tools do you need? nothing fancy at all. sockets , wrenches , torque wrench and screw drivers, again knowing what to look for in the damage 4) Before you say " the truth is how ever slightly different" you really shouldn't speak about something you had nothing to do with as far as the repair. watch the video my lines are perfect. no shims at all again you have to know what your buying. I understand your point but not applicable on this vehicle Just bolted them on. I also did a quick search before I bought this I looked at compairable model 3 same year, same options and your estimate of 46K is a little light same specs and milage but even so so saving 20k is not good?. Also your comment on hours of time on the frame machine, have you ever used one? Have you ever paid someone that has worked on a frame machine? I have done both. I actually know the costs of frame work. I did put it on the rack and there was no work needed but if there was on a typical hit like this you're talking about $600.00. Again you have to know what you're buying. As far as " badly repaired fender " One there isn't a tin of bondo, I worked that area for about 4 hour getting the dents out before applying minimal filler, its not finished yet I just put it in primer for the inspection and its not badly repaired i have another couple of hours to get ready for paint but you can pay someone to hang a new quarter for $900 part cost and another $1000 to paint. And as far as my situation I do 50000 miles a year I will drive this thing to the end, I have a passion for working on vehicles and have no interest or plans of selling this car or having people speak for me as far as what im going to do and how much im going to sell it for. I know you're trying to make a point but really you should get all the facts before you speak on something or for someone else in such generality without having the knowledge of the specific vehicle we are talking about. This was One of the easiest vehicles I have ever worked on. 5) What does being a fully-qualified Commercial Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and self-confessed car lover have to do with repairing cars or having the knowledge to do so. You made some serious accusations that were totally wrong and had no substance to the how it really went.
The fact he took the time to color code them on your own design sketch pad thing is pretty neat he could have just wrote in stock or 5 to 10 business days in Black
That is awesome! Who says you can't repair your own Tesla? This guy Mark is totally legit.

The fun game with the Model 3 is finding one that has the B-pillar trim still attached to the B-pillar. They use an amazingly complex set of plastic mouldings but unlike Toyota's simple system - fails to stay put.

Rich I love your videos. I had a quick question. If I wanted to purchase one of model 3s from the website you mentioned how do I know the model I’m looking at is the performance model. I’ve tried to look up the VIN number but that only tells me it’s AWD which is already mentioned in the sale description.
