How to build Harbor Freight 10 ft. x 17 ft. portable car canopy with easy DIY upgrades

My 1st car cover didn't even last two weeks, so i figured i could build another one stronger. I am assembling a 10 ft. x 17 ft. Portable Car Canopy from Harbor Freight.
I used 2x6" ground contact wood as the base and anchored it down with cinder blocks. I also glued all the slip-pipe fittings together and used self tapping screws on all the corner pieces. Hope you found this helpful and thanks for watching!

My dude! Just use that black Gorilla tape on the slip joints... problem solved! Assemble the roof frame, tape up the slip joints before proceeding... keep it simple, brother!

Hey can you put this on BARE ground? I have to BUY more stuff? wow mannn! Buy plywood? I plan on just having the whole thing on bare ground and probably put like tarp or something below each pole leg .. Do I NEED self tapping screws? Mandatory? or can I just get by using teflon tape? clear teflon tape.

Was considering getting this item and came across your video. Great vid, btw, really helpful. I would be setting mine up on concrete, however, and have been looking at weight options. My research online so far suggests 80 lbs per corner for 10x20 tent. How has your tent been holding up with your DIY improvements? How did you determine how much weight to add to anchor your tent?

Instead of using the wood like a sill plate, I used like a head to add more structure. I used something like 3" or longer deck screws to screw into the wood where there were holes in the pipe. I did cut sill plate pieces for the end base and flange pieces so those could be screwed into those plates. Then I hole sawed in the sill plate pieces so I could drive ~3-4ft lengths of like pin footing pins at maybe a 35-40 degree angle so like bipod or tripods to help hold the whole thing down.
