How to Build a Step By Step Language Study Plan
What constitutes a good study plan for learning languages? Developing good habits, things you enjoy doing every day, is more important than any kind of step by step plan or program.

Language learning is a fuzzy logic process. It's not a matter of learning the basics and building on that. A study plan needs to be more about ensuring you stay motivated and engaged with the language, rather than a specific plan on the use of time. --- FREE Language Learning Resources 10 Secrets of Language Learning ⇢ www.thelinguist.com LingQ Grammar Guides ⇢ www.lingq.com/en/grammar-resource/ My blog ⇢ blog.thelinguist.com/ The LingQ blog ⇢ www.lingq.com/blog/ My Podcast ⇢ soundcloud.com/lingosteve podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/learn-languages-with-steve-kaufmann/id1437851870 --- Social Media Instagram ⇢ instagram.com/lingosteve_/ TikTok ⇢ www.tiktok.com/@lingosteve Facebook ⇢ facebook.com/lingosteve Twitter ⇢ twitter.com/lingosteve LingQ Discord ⇢ discord.gg/ShPTjyhwTN

Steve never reads comments but I wish he tackled in his videos a big problem with the most taught language in the word. That problem is "Business English" Cause you need to love your job and vocabulary is different for every profession. I hate the concept of "bussiness" Students need to know keywords that are very present in every day life. Conjuctions, linking words, a sense of verbs, adjectives. Many nouns. So grammar. Grammar ends very quickly. Vocabulary never ever.

In my experience, special English courses, like Business English, Academic English etc. are unnecessary. It is best to use a variety of content and then to focus in on content, articles, books, podcasts, that deal with our of professional interest. If we have a good base, the special terminology is quickly learned.

All of my first Japanese vocabulary came from songs and now I started with KZread videos and I've a Booklive account. Booklive is a Japanese website where you can read books, light novels and Manga. Some are even free. Now I think I'm ready to slowly read my first book. Key to study a language is having a ridiculous amount of content.

Couldn’t agree more, habits are the key to continuous process. I recently set some goals and a lot of them start very small and “easy”, like reading a Star Wars novel instead of high literature. I think it’s all about having an entry point you’re passionate about and once the habit is built, it’s easier to devote more time and energy to more complex and demanding material

GREAT! MANY THANKS. VERY INSPIRING AND MOTIVATING
Awesome advice , and the comparison to running is perfect ; as you can’t build to run a marathon without a long term plan ; the only difference may be many of us have been scarred by bad language experience back in high school and assume that we need “talent “ to learn a language ; but you set the record straight as it’s desire and a good plan 😁 thanks !!
I really love your videos and advice Mr. Kaufmann. It has helped me a lot to improve my English level and that has cheered me to start learning Italian because I want to visit the country in a few years and I found it a little bit easier because my native language is Spanish. I remember trying to learn Farsi, over 40 yrs ago, using books, learning grammar..nothing seemed to help, but when I was immersed in the culture & actually lived in Iran a couple of years, did I actually learn the language..today I can proudly say I speak quite fluently..but I must catch up on my German, since 1/2 my heritage is Austrian..german speaking. I feel I have nearly mastered French, since I live in Quebec & it is the official language of the province. I so appreciate your input on language..I heard you today on CJAD Radio in Montreal & was fascinated by your knowledge & love of languages. take care.
I’m just starting Arabic. I’m excited to see what is in the LingQ catalog for Arabic! LingQ really catapulted my French into fluency.

Structured learning isn't for everyone. Do a mix of both, some structure For example set a LINGQ target of day 25-30 words. And then unstructured, Listen to music only in your target language. Watch movies only in your target language. Be patient with results. 2 cents from fellow language learner.
