    You've probably got the best tutorial on how to bend tubes on entire KZread. This video is a gem of watercooling. The one and only thing which is wrong in this video is cooling off the bend with water. DO NOT DO THAT - a specially with Acrylic while PETG may be able to forgive you stress build up by quick cooling acrylic most likely won't.

    Thank you so much for actually demonstrating a real world tube run on a watercooling setup. So many, talk about ideas, maybe show tools and then make some crazy bends in tubing that do not relate to a real situation. It was so refreshing to see an actual pc with watercooling components installed and seeing the measurement and bending techniques that make that run. I really liked your use of tools and I would like to do the same. Maybe to go as far as to make reference marks (think conduit bender) where you can get those repeatable results. Thanks! Bravo!! Great work. Subbed.

    of all the videos ive watched, thank you for the love of god for explaining to this the only way my brain will let me. every other video ive watched they always say to eye ball it or what but i needed the reference point way especially since i have some intricate bends that i plan to make and needed a precise way. for whatever reason i never learned how to measure things out or create reference points and understand angles (i sucked at geometry in high school) but seriously thank you for taking the time out and making this video this way. it is very appreciated. thanks have a good day #stayblessed

    This is excellent. Methodical and logical. I am just about to crack in to my first custom loop, and THIS advice is the most competent I have seen by far. Working back from known reference planes, the use of the set square all the way through, running a test for stretch allowance to gain finishing distance beyond a reference point, all superbly elegant. I dare say you have saved me a lot of trial and error.

    Quick question, on your 2nd calculation why didn’t you add 7mm to your 40mm to get your first height? To my understanding, you said “from the top of the fitting”. So your calculated value 88mm at 3:07 is not from the bottom of A to the centre of B. It’s actually to the top of B.. right?

    Just found your channel and it was a blessing. I want to stop eye balling my bends and this video should help to get some clean straight bends. The only question I have is about the center line on the 90 mold tool. I'm a little lost on how to find how much it stretches when you bend it. I've watch several times and that's the only part that has me stuck. Could you explain it further if possible. Also this was hands down the best video on this subject

  • @MediamanStudioServices

    @MediamanStudioServices

    2 жыл бұрын

    hi Tuga777, thanks for the kind words. So to find how to bend you need to know the radius of your gig. My gig was 2cm to the edge of the tube from the first bend mark, and my tube is 14mm. So 2cm plus 7mm (half the thickness of the tube) =2.7cm I measured it at 7:16 of the video. So measure your gig the same way then make a mark on test tube at say 10cm and measure back 2.7cm. Put this mark on the bend line Once you bend the tube, you will notice the tube bend center is not at the 10cm mark, the difference will be the stretch. So for me the stretch was about 2.5mm - 3mm. so I was making my marks 3cm or (2cm + 7mm + 3mm = 3cm) (radius + half the thickness of the tube + the stretch = 3cm) The stretch for most bends is around 3mm. so if you use this amount added to your radius plus the thickness, you should be good.. Hopes this helps Thanks for watching Please share on your FB to help grow the channel.

    This is indeed the best video I have come across regarding bending tubes! Thanks for the great content. I do have two questions though. The first one is if you have some tips regarding bending acrylic ? I had a bit of a hard time bending acrylic with the use of a jig, it seems like it's easier to bend a 90 deg by hand. However, it becomes hard to do complicated bends without being able to use the jig. My other question is if you had a tip for a situation where the distance between the two 90 degree bends is rather short, I am trying to make a bend very similar to the one you are doing in the video, except that the distance between the bends is around 95mm, this means that I can't get the tube in the jig after making the first bend, in order to make the second bend because the first bend prevents the tube from going in straight in the jig, since it's so close to the second bend. Do you have any idea how I could solve this problem ? Thanks again for the great content.

  • @MediamanStudioServices

    @MediamanStudioServices

    hi Amat, thanks for the kind comments. Please share the video. As for acrylic, I have never used this material so I can not give any advice. Also for short bends. Sometimes you just need to do the bend by hand, its the only way to get the tube to fit. That is what I did with the short tube in the video.

  • @reallyjohnblack

    @reallyjohnblack

    Жыл бұрын

    It's been a year since your comment, but just in case (and for others): If you have problems bending acrylic tubes with a jig, you didn't heat up the tubes enough. When the tube starts getting soft, don't bend it straight away, like you can do with PETG. Keep heating them up for much longer, getting more heat into the material and softening them (without going too far, creating bubbles inside the material) and then bend it. For short distances I took 2 90° jigs and cut them into two pieces, leaving just one straight side and the curved part, but not the other straight part. That way you can fit them into shorter spaces and you'll have to adjust the perfect 90° angle afterwards anyways.
