How To Bend A Rolling Offset On Conduit
In this video I will show you and explain to you how to do a rolling offset on emt conduit. I am using 1/2 emt for this demonstration. Please feel free to ask any questions and if you have ideas for future electrical videos please let me know.

Let the haters hate man. I’ve used the information from your videos to bend pipe for my entire garage. You do good work. Keep it up.

As a Green Electrician who’s just started out, you’ve helped me show my bosses that I deserve my apprenticeship after the trial period is up. I just have to keep up the good work now! Thanks so much!

Cool way to keep a clean professional look!!
Pythagorean Theorem. Subtract the low point of elevation to high point of elevation. Subtract the short distance of the horizontal from the long distance of horizontal. Take each results and square it, the add it together, then with that answer, find the square root. Then choose angle of bend, use multiplier, add shrink, then bend. You will have a way accurate bend.👍🏽

Uhhhh😧. What he said 😂 😂 😂
Thanks for this. I couldn’t grasp one concept but got it now. I wouldn’t waste my time trying to convince people of what you can or can’t do. The concept is the same no matter what size you’re doing. It’s sad that most videos of others bending pipe have to explain why they’re using a sharpie for demonstration. Those here to learn get it and those that comment are just looking for attention

Oh I so agree about the sharpie comment. I get them alot.. I am glad that this did help you out though. And your right I now don't care what people think I can or can't do. Thank you for your comment and watching ☺
Intelligent people understand that bending conduit is more of an art form and less about strength. I've seen some really small people bend with a inch and a half Bender. The man has decided to teach us a skill that relies more on brains than bronze. So let's have respect. Thank you for the videos.

intelligent people know that bending pipe isnt hard, and they dont judge an electrician solely based on if they can bend pipe or not. ive never understood your thought process on this, i could bend pipe extremely before i was even a registered apprentice a decade ago, it isnt an art or difficult, its very easy
Very helpful video. Thank you!

Heya bro,,,I dig your style working with conduit. I have watched some other guys videos on this subject and one guy says you really should use a laser in your piping layout. Albeit in a big open ceiling structure and reference points for some of the layout measurements are at a great distance from your piping location,,lasers would aide the layout dilemmas!! When doing more common closer work as in the scenario you are presenting there is no need for the extra BS!! OOOH,,forgot to say all the xtra math the guy was talking about,,right triangle theory and getting the measurements to come up with the hypotneus. Using your approach is gaining the hypotneus without the 2 other waste of time measurements!!!!!! I have been bending conduit for decades,,,and I was taught by an Ole Timer that if you learn how to do it easier and the same results of someone using fancy pants technology,,your actually smarter,,,but save the super math for when it's really needed,,,then break out your pipe bending or Uglys book and a calculator!!😊 The only difference for me on your mock-up,,is that is one of few times I use the top,,,or should I say the registered angle between the pipe and connector. I feel i get a more true reading cause the back of the conduit, in this situation is not the best registration for the end of the tape or Stic- rule in my case. I am ole school on using stic- rule. The other thing to note is that if your pipe already has some bends in it than you have to scribe a strait reference line somewhere near your first bending point to aide in the alignment of the pipe in the bender so that the whole conduit is in proper alignment!!! Or you could due like most CHEESEBALLZ out there and cut the pipe and use a coupling to spin for rotation!! I really do like your strait from the cuff approach!! OLE SCHOOL WAYS STILL CARRY ON!!!!

I think it would be really cool if you could show us how to bend inch and a quarter for one of your future videos I am no means a big man but I found ways, innovative ways to bend it with the 1-1/4 hand bender. It is not easy I don't care who anyone is. Definitely possible but no means easy..

Question for you. How do you know when a certain degree isn't going to work? Say like a rolling offset where 30° won't work but 45° will? When I had an Android phone I had an app that would show green, yellow, and red to.sgow if your specific bend and degrees would work or not. Now that I have an iphone, that feature doesn't work. I'd like to know how to tell without an app.

Honestly not trying to sound like a no it all but it comes with time and you have to understand and visualize how and where the bend will start and end

Something I have my apprentices and myself do is if you go more than 6” on an offset then use 45 degree bends which has a multiplier of 1.4. This way your offset isn’t so big. If you have a really big offset then go to 60 degree bends.
@MountaineerOutdoors

I understand that but I tend not to bend on those degrees. I do understand your M. O on that and it's a good one. Thank you for your comment and watching ☺

Thank you for your video. However, you can present the concrete measurement for the box at two points such as RISE ( point A ) and OFFSET ( point B ) from then we use the formula C = ( square root of A2 + B2 ) . Hopefully, see the next video you explain more clearly . Thank you so much
