How do I bend a 30 degree offset?

Mastering a 30 degree offset is essential to developing as a well rounded electrician. Running conduit is by far my favorite thing to do but always remember how electricity works...
It takes the path of least resistance.
Don't look for the craziest path, use a 30, use a 90, and keep on running.

    2 years later and you taught me more than my jw could ever explain in three months. I got fed up, looked at your video, sat on the floor with some EMT and just fucking figured it out. I realize how bad communication is for some people and teaching really isn't their forte. Thank you for this video dude.

    U make this stuff easy to understand thank you I went to school for it but conduit bending was hardest for me to understand just bc of the measurements equation but I’m good at math it’s just knowing where to make your measurements and how much to take off or multiply by like the backends of 90s new subscriber today !! Thanks for the helpful vids

    The problem with air bending is that it's very hard to match bends on parallel runs. It's better to floor bend them. Great video, with explanation. Can you do a video for floor bending?

  • @empoweredkc

    TBH I hate floor bending, the second bend (if not done on a elevated platform) will mess up the first bend. When you "air bend" be sure to hold the conduit as close to the bender as you can. That will help with consistency. ps. I will do a floor bending video and show what I mean. Thanks a ton for the follow and comment.

    I need to bend a 30 degree offset in a stairwell but at the bottom it needs to drop roughly 6 inches under the landing of the floor above. Any suggestions on how to make that look good ?

  • @empoweredkc

    Haha almost never. I love using minis which help you keep the conduit centered and straight and eliminate the need for the box offset. I know that there is a time and place for everything so se do have a video up on box offsets. Keep pushing to learn and grow. You’re investing in yourself my friend ❤️

    It's easier if you just calculate the shrink and pre cut the conduit to length.

    The only time I would ever say "shrink" and "easy" together is in a ice bath 😂🤦🏻‍♂TBH the only time I factor in shrink is on saddles. Good point though and you are more advanced than most.

    Hey I’m still new to this but aren’t you suppose the measure the offset depth and multiply it with the multiplier

  • @empoweredkc

    @empoweredkc

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah…. For a 30 degree offset measure the distance and multiple it by 2. For a 5” 30 degree offset the marks need to be 10” apart. 5x2=10

  • @eloyvillarreal3927
    @eloyvillarreal3927 Жыл бұрын

    You made the right example but you were kind of wrong because you are bending by using measurements from boxes at the top and center of the stud, which I’m pretty sure you know that boxes don’t go on top of the stud it goes inside because then it would be exposed once it gets sheetrocked so that means that offset should of been at least 1 to 3 inches shorter depending on what knockout you are connecting to in each box, great example though I’m pretty sure the smart ones get the point lmao, but keep doing what you are doing I’m pretty sure it helps a lot of people
