I met an old electrician who used a propane tank like from a grill with a flame thrower nozzle and bend 4 pvc 3/4 inch pipes all at the same time.

With your ingenuity you would be a pro..

You can bend it on the exhaust pipe from your truck. I have done it many times. On 1/2 and 3/4 and 1 inch pipe. Bigger pipe is harder but it will work in time.

@@MountaineerOutdoors We used to have a greenlee PVC bender used antifreeze and propane. It work well but I never could get over the smell of antifreeze all day long. You have to clean the PVC before you can glue it.

Now that's one thing I have never done. I haven't used antifreeze.. I couldn't imagine smelling it all day either

I have to install conduit flat again a basement wall into an outlet box affixed to a support. While I could buy a piece of conduit to make the turn, when you add the fitting and do eight of them I thought there should be a better way to do it. The already made piece would not fit the job in any case. This seems like and easy way to do it. I was thinking you could make a jig and once the pipe was heated you could just put it in the bending jig to hold it in place and cool with a spray of water or wet cloth. Anyone ever use this technique or is there a better way?

Yep you can for sure just have to take your time with it

Would you use the same technique with 1 inch PVC SCH 40 conduit?

Yes just take your time because it will take a bit longer to heat it up and bend it. Make sure you tape up the ends too to keep the heat inside so it will bend faster

I used the tape measure so really can't judge it as a degree.. Just use the tape measure like I did
