HOW TO BECOME A DEFENSIVE STOPPER (Film Study)

Спорт

Lamelo ball is proving to be one of the best rookies ever, check out my breakdown - • FUTURE MVP? LaMelo Bal...
Luguentz Dort was an un drafted rookie last year who was sky rocketed to fame in the first round of the 2020 NBA playoffs against the Houston Rockets. Dort put on a defensive clinic, putting the clamps on James Harden and assisting the Oklahoma City Thunder push the series to 7 games.
Lu Dort also clamped up LeBron vs the Lakers, forcing LeBron into a tough fadeaway, nearly holding onto the win for OKC.
Becoming a defensive stopper requires years of work, but with the techniques presented in this video, and with some solid work, you should be getting stop after stop!
Studying the game is also important, check out my other breakdown playlists to further your basketball knowledge - • Breakdowns
Lu Dort has shown an improved 3 point shot this season and with more opportunity to score due to the youth of the Thunder he is showcasing he is more than just a defensive stopper.
Dort could be like Draymond Green, someone who is incredibly smart, with a high motor but with the addition of better spacing on the offensive end!
The future is bright for sure.

If you're not an elite athlete i'd say the best thing you can do to become a defensive pest is being aware of your strengths and weaknesses and analyzing the player you're defending to see what their strengths and weaknesses are. It should only take a few possessions to see what their go-to moves are, if they have a quicker first step than you or not, what part of the court they're most comfortable operating around, what spots they want to get to, if they have a quick release or not, if they like to move off-ball to get their shots or not, what hand they like to use to attack on the dribble, what hand they like to come off of on pull-up jumpers (do they like to pull-up with their feet right-left or left-right?), and if they like to attack the paint or prefer catching & shooting. Once you know what they want to do, you can apply what your strengths & weaknesses are to theirs. If they're quicker than you, take a step back. If they prefer pull-ups over attacking the paint keep a hand up hovering where they bring the ball up to shoot to make their shooting motion uncomfortable. If they like coming off the left hand for right-left pull-up jumpers, force them right to pull-up for left-right jumpers, if they're bigger & taller than you get in their personal space and make it uncomfortable for them to put the ball to the floor. I've always been a defensive pest my entire life playing basketball because i was always undersized as a 5'8 PG, but i always made people work for their shots or made them pass it off, many times it's gotten people frustrated to the point of throwing elbows and trying to start fights with me. It' all part of the game and if you're not blessed with height, length, or athleticism, the best thing you can do is use your basketball IQ.

I do this but im like 5’3 meanwhilw the people i play with are like at least 5’10 (i havent hit my growth spurt and i play with older people) so no matter what i do after like 3 possesions they still score cuz they can basically jump on top of me

@@moose0803 My advice would be to work with practice cones to work on your footwork, focus on increasing your speed and conditioning, lift some weights and focus on developing your upper body, lower body, and most importantly your core. These things when i was in my early teens made me physically stronger than a majority of people i played against while being short, and having a strong center of gravity is a great foundation to be like an unmovable rock that can't be pushed over when it comes to on-ball defense. If you take these things seriously i guarantee you you can become a pitbull that isn't scared of anyone on defense.

Yeah I think this is true, especially seen by the nets and lakers. They can score well, but they have no defenders at all on either team and as a result they lose a lot. The last three championship winners, Bucks, Lakers, Raptors, had really good defenses. And even before that, Draymond and Igoudala solidified the warriors championship d as well.

“He was despised and rejected- a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:3-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 God loves you so much and showed that by sending His Son to die for us so that we may inherit eternal life. We deserve hell but He gave us heaven through faith in Jesus. He took the punishment we deserved and by putting our faith in Him we can be saved.
