I mean some of these plays (5:40 and 6:16) were fouls. But if you want to win - you play as physical as allowed.

Good video. Stamina and fitness is underrated too. Its tough to play lockdown D guarding their best player and also getting all the buckets for your team

That's why most of the time if I see a scoring threat on the opponent team, I'll save stamina to lockdown on him while assisting my team to score, doesn't necessarily mean that I haveto score myself

I say use it on them, then show them.
James harden actually playing good defense and being used as an example for it is like seeing a bear standing upright trying to order turkey at the grocery store.
As a wrestler first and a basketball player second. This video is great! Not crossing your feet, and being able to shuffle and slide, having very active hands, taking and giving contact, and cutting/pushing through screens, and having the iq to switch vs stay on screens, and knowing zone defense, and when to step-up, being able to change levels and speeds to keep up with your defender, not falling for fakes, will help with defense greatly, get you steals, and lock down defenders! It can be the difference between winning and losing.

That's what we need!Thank u Coach!🏀Can't wait to see more defender videos🙏
can't believe i sat through the entire 24 minutes. this video is a GEM. thank you so much!
I almost never comment but I have to say I love this video. Perfect for visualizing defense fundamentals. I put what I learned to work in one-on-one against my buddy today and it totally upped my game. This channel is amazing. Thanks for all the work breaking it down for us!! 🙌👏
This is the single most useful analysis I've seen for defense, this is definitely going to help me know what to practice.
my absolute favorite video on my internet right now watch this almost once a week and always pre game.
This has been very useful to me when I'm playing against the toughest guys on the varsity team in summer conditioning. Thank you 💯.
Great video, thank you, defensive tactics in basketball are underserved. They are also great for new players getting into the game to build confidence as they develop offense.
Love the attention to defense it’s hard to fine this kind of content. Brilliant.
Defenders get love! favorite line in this video, thank you Coach!
Best video on defense by far. Most vids will say watch the hips, slide the feet, turn when you need to, good luck. I play solid defense but breaking it down for my students is a challenge sometimes because some aren’t as understanding of the game as others
Everything makes sense in these videos coach, thanks a lot! 🤝🏽
i always come back to this video to help me refresh my brain and see what i should be doing better, thank you
This was honestly a really helpful video and explained things thoroughly enough to get past my thick skull. Thank you!
Thanks for this video. My son is 12 and plays super tight/aggressive D. He take away dominant hand and uses the hand on the hip technique from that Kobe video and destroys people. BUT......... at any given tournament a bad ref ruins our day b/c they will call almost any contact on ball handler a foul. We LOVE your videos... keep it up. CHEERS!!!!

I have watched this video so many times. Absolutely the best!
This video on "How To Guard Anyone (Lockdown Defensive Tips)" is an absolute defensive gem! The detailed breakdown of defensive strategies and techniques is incredibly helpful for basketball players looking to improve their skills on the court. The emphasis on footwork, positioning, and reading your opponent is spot on. The practical tips provided here make it clear that becoming a lockdown defender is not just about physical attributes but also about understanding the game and anticipating your opponent's moves. Kudos to the creator for sharing valuable insights that can elevate anyone's defensive game. Time to hit the court and put these tips into action! 🏀
I really needed this lesson on defense. Up until now I’ve applied only 20% of what I can legally do on defense, thank you for the tips!
I love your tutorials so frikkin much. Appreciate your work.
There was some tricks you mentioned that I dont really use, like biting into hesi's and jabs. Im a SF and this helped me so much for my D, and to be a good lockdown defender (aswell as knowing the defending tricks so I can use it against the opposition when im driving to the basket) Thanks Coach💓💓
Love the video, great work! Never give em an inch, fight them for EVERYTHING! I would like to add what my coach always told me: They can’t score if they don’t have the ball. So Stick to your man like shit does to a shoe when you’re off ball defending and not on help.
I've been waiting for you to upload new videos thank you for the tips it helps me alot. Good job coach God blessed
Appriciate the effort in making this video! So useful

Great vid, watched it all the way to the end while pausing to act out certain plays and tactics shown in the video so I could get a better feel
There's nothing better than real time examples of how fundamentals work. I love seeing footage of so many different pros at different levels, in different eras, in different countries, using the same strategies. Great work.
thanks a million for this video. ive only been practicing offencive moves(cuz its more fun) for months but ive been realizing that D moves r eqully important. blocking a goal is just like scoring a goal!
FINALLY great video tips on D ! Thanks a lot 🙏🙏
1:25 that was just pure gold Great vid as always coach!
Im so glad i found this channel. But i always have a hard time defending ppl in the paint where they will jump as high as they can and put the basket in. They’d also grip the ball hard so even if you managed to touch the ball it would sometimes go in.
Just got across this video and I've been watching it for over 11min, I just wanna say thank you, it's been really good for my defensive play style, vielen Dank 🍻🏀

4:15 if the defender pins the body, that's a swipe of the off arm for the offensive player and an easy blow by. or a foul
@vinuzo9548
Жыл бұрын
no its not. Almost every great defender does this. You just have to learn to release the handcheck whenever the player goes to swipe, as long as your hand remains on top, they wont be able to swipe back. They could perhaps swipe up, but outside the nba (james harden) thats pretty uncommon to see and it wont lead to a blowby
@11Andruxa
Жыл бұрын
@@vinuzo9548 as soon as the hand touches the body, it's a swipe right away and a move toward the basket. They already teach that to kids in Europe and pros in Europe use it. NBA guys are the best at it
@vinuzo9548
Жыл бұрын
@@11Andruxa which is why, as Kobe was saying, you place the hand on top of the players arm. Then they will have to bring the arm back and around your hand before they can swipe down, which is enough time for you to release
@CoachFrikki
Жыл бұрын
@@11Andruxa The swipe is definitely a good weapon to have. But it's not an auto blowby against good defenders. Watch at 4:32 how Jrue Holiday plays defense against the swipe. Stays on balance and forces the offense into a really tough finish.

Thank you so much!
Thanks Coach
Excellent video! I started playing at 18 and defense was about the only thing I was really good at. Is amazing all the things I did naturally in this video. But now I’m 38, slower, don’t play as much and need breakdowns like this to remember all the techniques to use against younger, faster players. Currently working on building up foot speed and mobility to be more effective on the court 😀

Can you make a full guide on how to get past/score on this type of defense? A guide on how to read your defender and pick what moves to use would work as well.
