@@ADJackD A train derailing like that. Almost the entire train will be dead now. I give 25% max survive the initial crash. Of the 25% most will be seriously injured and die soon after with lack of proper medical services. Do you know how many bullets a Polar Bear can take, they run fades with us already, they get shot multiple times just to scare them off but they eventually come back. Polar Bears will smell blood of all the bodies and all the one for miles around will flock there, luckily this actually helps because if you do not appear as a threat they will go after the multiple bodies. So the bodies can be gathered to distract the bears while everyone flees. But realistically you wouldn't flee as the train is the best place to survive and try to salvage to stay alive. So using body piles to lure the Bears as a trap to take care of the predators in the area would be a good idea.

  • @Jalbesbe

@@santi_super_stunts2573 Polar Bears are technically the top of the food chain as they are the only animal that actively hunts us, and we do not actively hunt them. Even with guns they often come out on top, shooting only pissing them off or with enough shots scaring it off for the moment. They would have to use the dead bodies from the train as either a trap to try to kill the bears or to lure them so the people could escape. Escaping is a bad idea as the train is still the best option even derailed

Fun tidbit: The Snowpiercer story has a mention in the game Frost Punk, specifically in the expansion "The Last Autumn". Your expedition can find train #12 "Crève neige" out of commission as a failed attempt to prepare for the coming freezing of the planet. In fact the developers said that their inspiration for their game came from the frozen world in Snowpiercer.

@@thejail_berd8731 Frostpunk is a PC game where you are in charge of a settlement set up around a gigantic generator. The generator allows your people to survive the extreme temperature drops that occur. The warmest the game gets is -20C, the coldest it gets is during the end game storm is -150C. The elements of the game that you are combating are freezing temperatures, starvation, hopelessness, and discontent. You will need to research new technology and issue new laws in order to survive. The different story maps have different goals as well. For example in one map "The Fall of Winterhome" your people just rebelled against the oppressive regime that was in charge of your generator. You as the new captain, need to clear away the rubble, get the generator going again, and then you have to get as many of your people out of there safely as the generator is malfunctioning.

I think it works in a few ways. 1) If the guards are really armed, then there is basically no hope. At that point, better to simply end while he still has hope. 2) In the end, "Looking Cool" is basically what generals have done for millenia to motivate their soldiers. Making it shoot in a random direction simply makes you into "They guy that probed they didn't have bullets", while making it shoot at your face makes you "The guy who risked his life by shooting at his own brian to show everyone that there is hope". The morale of the troops has real effects in battle as silly as it may sound, so doing something crazy or cool to rile up those people would help a lot in their rebellion. 3) And of course, the previous point also works in the opposite way, reducing the morale of the opponent. Imagine you are the guy that got his gun used against his will. If you got it shot in a random direction, you would be infuriated and try to beat that guy up. But if the guy shot at his own face to probe a point, looking at you in the eyes, and is now ready to kill you with his won hands... I would cr*p my pants if I was in that position. 4) It makes a cool movie scene XD.

  • @OK-yy6qz

If the Gun did actually had bullets then he's practically dead the moment he attacks the guard anyways. There's only 3 scenarios here: 1:the guards shoot him down regardless. 2: he's arrested and executed brutally. 3: he's left to die with an infected bullet wound since they have practically 0 medical supplies.

This is one of those interesting cases where both the movie and the TV show are really enjoyable if you like the premise. I'd say watch the movie and if you want to see more try the show. Naturally the show is slower paced but, really explores the themes and the details about the train. What I really like is that that the movie really portrays everyone as a very dark shade of gray if not full black morally. Since the show has more time it can afford to cast more people as a lighter gray.

i'd have just not gotten on the train 17 years ago. the climate clearly isn't uninhabitable, due to the Polar bear they saw, and with some prep, knowing that things are starting to freeze, (if you remember, the people knew the earth was slowly freezing, and they had enough time to build the train) people could of gotten warm shelters prepared, kind of like fallout shelters, but for a frozen earth scenario, as opposed to a nuclear one.

While It would be an acquired taste, I don't think the protein bars made out of bugs is that bad. Some bugs are safe to eat and are sources of protein. I think they are even delicacies in some countries. From what I read, the protein bars were originally made from the feces of the front section passengers. They only changed it to bugs in post production and just didn't remove Curtis's reaction.

I never really understood the cockroach bars being framed as so grotesque. I mean I wouldn't LIKE to eat cockroach, but it still food and it's gonna keep you going. It's practical. The most appaling part about it is the fact that that seems to be all the rear class seems to get so it's just another example of the deplorable systems that is the train.

I'm confused. In one moment you explain the plan to lead them back into the grinding room to use the grinder to grind them to ensure they're dead. But in the next you say that they also can't lose ground? Which is it? Also, they need to go up a ladder to look inside the grinder itself. What good would that do? And why try to lead them when the only real option is pushing forward? The guards could just force the door closed by hand and jury rig it closed on their end. Remember, they just need to stall and stop their progress. They don't actually need to fight them continuously. A metal door thats forced shut manually then rigged to stay closed does that. Welding the door closed and cutting any power to it would do that.

A few things 1) They will need some kids. And they know that there are some kids back there. I agree that feeding them and bulking them up would be a good idea. Stacking them and layering clothes though... not so much. If you stacked them up, with knowing the kids were back there, the front passengers would still come looking for them just as if they were hiding in a corner or under blankets. And the front passengers may be entitled, but they aren't stupid. I'm sure they'd be able to tell if someone was wearing multiple layers of clothing. 2) Yes, tossing them in the meat grinder is a smart idea, but you would still have to kill them or get them into a vulnerable position to do that in the first place. I doubt they would chase after because their orders were to stop the back trainers from getting further up the train and if a retreat was to occur that wouldn't make them act. The people are going back of their own volition? Cool. We don't have to fight. Also getting them to a point where they'd be able to be thrown into the meat grinder 3) That girl is their most valuable asset when knowing what's behind the doors. So yes.... let's just throw her in the front of the pack so she can get murdered once everyone realizes what she can do!

When they find out the guns aren’t real or even just that a melee fight is a possible outcome, spears should have been made. A phalanx is the ultimate melee fighting force in this situation against the axe wielding guys.
