How To Attach Bromeliads In A Terrarium - Cuban Knight Anole Bioactive Setup

Welcome to the first of hopefully many of 2 minute tips videos. In today's video we will be looking at how to attach bromeliads in a terrarium in the Cuban Knight Anole bioactive setup. I find that no matter how many areas you give to plants when building a bioactive terrarium but you always need to fill in some blank spaces. Using the technique in today's video is the easiest way to pin bromeliads to a expanding foam background in your terrarium. . If you love reptiles, amphibians, terrariums, bioactive setups, tropical fish, aquariums, aquascaping, fish tanks and planted tanks then this is the video for you. If you are new to the channel, I release videos every Sunday and now a short video on a Wednesday and are largely around aquascaping, bioactive terrariums and vivariums, reptiles, amphibians and freshwater fish. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video. If you could do me a huge favour and hit that like button and leave me a comment, it really helps me out.

Great short vid! Informative, and concise. Sometimes I trawl through full build videos, just to find out how to do one small part. Short videos that do what they say on the tin are very handy! (Done an update vid for my paludarium if you want to check it out!)

Thats what I was thinking. They tend to be geared towards people who don't follow the channel and help grow this channel a bit. Plus I'm sure my subscribers will enjoy too 🤞. Too late mate already have and its looking amazing! Just shared it on my feed 👊

Great vid and channel! I'm a bit scared to install bromeliads with the dirt they came with as they might contain some unwanted chemicals and pests. I wonder if I wash the dirt away and I just leave the roots hanging would they survive?

Thanks very much im glad you enjoyef the video. I wouldnt worrt too much. This brom was from my local reptile shop so no ferts or chemicals used. You could wash the dirt away and wrap the roots or stem in sphagnum moss to stop them drying out. Hope this helps and thanks again for watching 👍

Thank you I have gotten 14 pups this year and I’m wondering do any of the older bromeliads that don’t bloom keep giving pups Or do you remove them and discard them?

Just curious, have you tried this with anything else, begonia, philodendron, other small potted terrestrials? Im building a big terrarium with no reptiles in it so im not as worried about what species i used, but now that im running out of created potted space on the background i have to find ways to get the potted plants mounted on the flat surface. Think this method will work for stuff other than just broms?

Do you not quarantine the plant beforehand? Hopefully there are no pesticides on it?

I watched another video of a person mounting bromeliads and he just stuck the stick part (which all the root looked like) in wood and acted like as long as it was secure and the humidity was high that was all you had to worry about. I got 3 at a really good price whose leaves are the same shape and color as what you have but as others have said it is just a stick for a root (I thought this was what they all looked like). One is dying off so I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong and that it is not natural acclimation as the other 2 look good. Can i just stick it well draining soil? It is in a very humid environment. I also am going to increase the light as I think these LEDs are red/ green which is cool looking but weird combo (looks sort of deep jungle dark).

The bromeliads roots are mainly used to hold on to things, not absorb water. As long as the center of the bromeliads or the cup has water, you should be fine. In the wild the leaves collect rain water. So every so often pour some water into the center.

Hey Hugo! Unfortunately you can't trim broms like stem plans. You will have to remove it and add something else. Hope this helps 👍

It is annoying and its taken me almost 2 years to get Castros terrarium close to how I want it. She still destroys one or two from time to time though
