Great video. A quick tip...to avoid ruining the design on your foils when you clean the backs use 91% alcohol instead of acetone.

Thanks for the tips! I struggled a couple months ago with foil because I didn't have foil glue. The tip about only curing for 30secs was really helpful.....I rarely wear gel polish but this has given me some ideas to experiment while I wait for my glue lol. Tfs! ❤

LED is 15 or 30 seconds? This video was definitely one of the easiest to follow applying the foil opposed to other videos. I found my foil kit that I purchased last year but the glue it came with is only for use with a yv lamp. I had one but sent it back because of the yv rays they emit. Meaning I only use/have a led lamp. Which I’m more comfortable using. Just a personal preference. Tfs👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

“UV lamps” use a fluorescent light bulb (glass tube style bulb) that produces ultraviolet radiation (UV light). These are the original style of nail lamps used. LED stands for light emitting diode. Fluorescent lights and LEDs are basically just two different types of light bulbs; both of them produce UV light (ultraviolet radiation). This is required to cure gel nail polish. Since LED light bulbs are more compact and energy efficient, they produce less heat than the old style making your hand feel not as warm. Gel nail polish contains substances that require uv light to harden. Therefore, any type of nail lamp that works with gel polish must be putting out uv light. There are actually 3 types of ultraviolet light/radiation. UVA, UVB, and UVC. All nail lamps use UVA which is the safest one and is also emitted by the sun. It would be impossible for your gel nail polish to harden if the LED lamp doesn’t put out UVA radiation. Some of the older gel nail polishes will actually work better on the older fluorescent nail lamps because the wavelength of UVA light required to cure the gel is slightly different than more modern gels. Likewise, newer gel polishes may specifically say to use an LED nail lamp because they put out a slightly different wavelength of UVA light as well. UVA light can range in wavelength from 315-400 nanometers. Each nail manufacturer may have a gel polish that optimally cures in a different spot of this range. That’s why they recommend to use their specific nail lamp. However, in my experience, any quality LED lamp is just as good as any other. Some higher quality LED nail lamps actually have more than one type of LED bulb and are capable of outputting multiple wavelengths of UVA to work with any gel polish. Personally, I wouldn’t get an old style “uv lamp” because they are old technology and the fluorescent bulbs won’t last as long. Technology has moved to the newer LED lamps which are more compact and lightweight. Just rest assured you are still getting a small, insignificant amount of UVA radiation even with an LED nail lamp. I didn’t know anything about nail lamps and was very confused on the specifics. My wife wanted to do her own nails at home, so this is just a little of the information I found out in my research.

You can cut it into smaller sections with scissors but I usually just apply it to the nail from the large strip.

Hiya , I've rewatched it and I don't see any tools used. I press the foil to my nail with my finger but you can use a silicone ended tweezer or a cotton bud or something if you're using a full cover patterned foil.

You can use them with foil glue as well. Which you can apply over regular polish, gel polish, acrylic, or nothing. If you time it right, you can get it to stick to regular nail varnish as well.

You'll have to do some trial and error because it will vary by brand and how thick it's applied and the temp of your room etc.. It needs to be solid, but a little bit tacky.

Don't you have to use foil glue?

@@linnlinn876 I only use foil glue if it's a full cover design. Anything else , I just use the tacky layer of the cured gel. Xx
