How to Analyse Adverts
The terminology and ideas you need to know when discussing print advertisements.
🔠 Fancy words I used:
Align - "When analysing print advertising, we first need to establish who we think the target audience is so that we can understand why the brand is aligning themselves with the type of lifestyle or values promoted in the text."
Decor - "The decor is white, bright and furnished in a contemporary way, hence appealing to the audience’s idealised version of how they would like their house to look."
Embody - "Havaianas, a footwear company most known for their flip flops, uses a signature that comes in a quirky, orange font and thus reflects the fun loving attitude the brand claims to embody."
Extol - "This print advertisement from Kelloggs uses the information in the copy to extol the health benefits that its many products have to offer."
Abundance - "Symbolism is used in abundance to suggest the rich array of aromas that will adorn any man who uses their shower products."

Thanks for the video... It's given me insight on how to go about my semiotic analysis assignment...
Cool video, stumbled upon it while looking for something else...I was curious if its ok to show an advertisement on the train in a YT video in order to analyze the Japanese for language study. Do you know if there is any copyright problem with that? I'm guessing no but I can't find an answer anywhere.
I can’t find the Starbucks poster anywhere online, what did you type in? Great video btw!
