NO, No, no, ..... THHHHHHHHHHAAAAANNNNNKKKKKK YOOOOOOOUUUUUUU!!!!!!! I have been trying to align the blade on a similar table saw that belonged to my gfs grandfather for a while now. The machine cuts well runs good it just woodn’t cut straight. I would try loosening this & that, no luck. Time would go by I’d try again and i just couldnt get it. I got close but not close enough. But Now, after watching your video and demonstrating how you can adjust the trunnions (which I gotta say kind of made me mad, LOL, it didn’t even cross my mind to try this) very easily. IT IS ON. YOU ROCK, BRO. And I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us.

I've got one from 1964 that I picked up 3 years ago. Glad you made a video! I'm looking forward to more on this saw.

That cut was so smooth. Like your choice of blades also. I have watcedh the whole series on the saw and it has been a treat to see that great saw refurbished.

thanks Kelly it's so great to have the saw up and running I been a little slow this last year getting it done but now that it is i have so many projects planned its going to get a good workout the rest of the year with all the cool projects thanks so much for watching

Nice job on the restore, and very nice job on the dial indicator attachment. That test cut was sweet! Not a saw mak on that test piece. It sounded like it didn't even feel that test piece. I know that it's a small contractor's saw, but it's a real honey now, and should give you several years of good service. Huge thumbs up, man!

thanks Mark its a perfect saw for me and my small shop for many years to come , well unless a fancy saw company wants to send me one of their big black no finger chopping off saws but thats prolly never going to happen so i'll be super happy with what i got thanks for watching and for commenting my friend

thanks Michael I'M sure there's a lot of people that are either afraid to loosen up the bolts worried they may mess up there saw and won't be able to realign it right or they just don't know how to do it im glad i am able to make a how to video on the matter to walk people thru the setup thanks for watching

what about getting the blade square? and also what about checking and making the fence square to the blade? thanks. I have the same saw and am reasearching how to restore it and set it up.

I'm new to your channel. Love your video's very helpful and easy to follow. Recently I changed the the blades on my Ridgid JP0610 and I am snipping the ends of my boards. Could you PLEASE tell me what I did wrong and is there any chance you could do a how to video on setting blades on my style of jointer.

Nicely done! I need to adjust mine but my saw has a weird trunion mechanism.

Great video. Just wondered if you know how to do it with SIP GROUP 10inch table saw 01321 as I bought it second hand and serviced it and lubricate it but struggling to check the arbor runout and blade alignment??

I would like to know what you did to the trunnion bolts, all 5.

You're the first person I've seen who's using the link belt. How do you like it?

It's a pity not all table saws are as easy to align as that old Craftsman you've got there... My Delta 34-670 is an absolute nightmare to align!

Hello Patrick and great job restoring the saw! I was curious to ask since I have a saw that is of similar age what is the best way to go about changing the blade?

hello Austin !! for changing the blade on these older saws (first unplug said saw) second remove the blade insert then , i find it the easiest and safest to raise the blade all the way ,get yourself a short board like a 1x4 8 inches long maybe and u position that board in the front of the blade so its perpendicular to the blade sitting flat on the surface of the saw then you rotate the blade till a tooth of the blade catches on that board and then use your arbor nut wrench to loosen the arbor nut , on most saws pulling forward toward the front is loosen and pushing to the rear is tighten i hope this helps and remember when you tighten the nut not to over do it just needs to be snugged up no need to crank on it when tightening the nut that just makes it cause excessive wear and strain on the arbor threads and nut good luck be safe i hope this helps ya Patrick's Workshop

You aligned the blade to the dado slot, but you didn't check alignment with the fence. So the test cut used the fence, which may or may not be perfectly aligned to the blade/dado slot. Shouldn't you do both alignments?

yes u should do both i did align the fence also, but i didn't do it on video because i'm upgrading the fence soon and will cover it in a separate video sorry i forgot to mention that thanks for watching and calling me out i will do better in the future to be more clear on things

Excellent. I watched the video since I wanted to make an alignment tool rather than using a square, which you demonstrated as the usual method, and is the way I've always done it. Your tool looks like "store-boughten" and very professional, and obviously very accurate, good job and a great video. I was just a bit surprised when you didn't mention aligning the fence as well.

Did you, just for chuckles, bother to realign the blade using the combination square method and then use your homemade realignment tool to confirm that the combination square method was "not precision enough"? You have to admit that the homemade realignment method is a great deal longer when you have to factor in ordering an aluminum billet from McMaster, machining the aluminum, etc. and creation of the tool. Right?

ha i didn't need to try but i may for the fun of it , and yeah i know its a little more involved to make my alignment tool and do this but after its made it will always be easy and quick to use after that and rechecking from time to time will keep the saw in good working order thanks for watching and for the comment

Patrick, I like how you have gone to all the trouble restoring your tablesaw, it's awesome. Great job aligning your blade with your miter slots. Now, for the ut oh moment. The final cut you made had NOTHING to do with the MITER SLOT alignment. Had you used your MITER GAUGE, I wouldn't have said a word other that great job. Sorry my friend, but I must give you a thumbs down on this one.... Saw still looks great. Oh yeah, how's your doggie....?

well just so you know the blade alignment has nothing to do with the actual miter gauge it has all to do with setting the saw up so the blade is square to the miter slots for accuracy and to make the blade cut the cleanest and straightest it can possibly cut when ripping wood , and as for the the cut you saw that was the first time I ever used the saw to cut wood since i did a full restoration on it cleaning and painting every single nut bolt and washer and part of the saw to better than new condition oh and Ice is doing great thanks for asking and thanks for watching

Sorry, Allen, but I must give your comment a thumbs down. Patrick is 100% correct. When you set up or tune up a table saw, you always - always - adjust the blade to run parallel to the miter slot. You then adjust the fence to run parallel to that same miter slot. That ensures that they're all running true in relation to one another. The miter gauge doesn't enter into it. (You adjust the gauge to run true to the blade anyway.) The cut he made was the final demonstration that he had done just that. Check any table saw manual for tuning instructions, and you'll see this method as well as the combination square method, along with a few others.

My bad, you are correct and I took back the thumbs down..... I guess I wasn't thinking clearly today. I just assumed since you were aligning it up with the miter slot, then you should be using the miter gauge to make cuts with. I know about "assuming" and what it says..... :)
