    I skated for at least 3 years but never really progressed to grinds and big ramps. Basically forgot how to do most stuff and this is helping me be inspired to start small and maybe make my own videos as well. My friends from 30 years ago will probably enjoy 😅

    On my longboards I do loose as possible in the front while still tight enough to remain stable, on the back trucks I go much tighter for stability. Loose in front, tight in the back.

    Might also be worth mentioning that for the first few session on new trucks, tightening the kingpin nut more than a few turns can very easily blow out the bushings. (especially thunders) And tightening trucks a lot is definitely not the way to get the best performance out of them. If one prefers tight trucks that don't turn, they should first look to trucks that aren't as surfy from the design itself. With a ballpark truck type at hand, you should then use different hardness bushings to further adjust the stiffness. After that, you can go on to fine tune by tightening the kingpin to the exact spot. Just saying, cuz those seems to be Ace trucks which are possibly the wobbliest, surfiest you can get, which you tightened quite a lot. That is like buying the longest kitchen knife, only to snap most of the blade off to only use the bottom part of it.

  • @SarahParkMatott

    @SarahParkMatott

    I have a whole video on exactly that. Blowing out thunder bushings before learning about how to break them in. So it’s a good thing to know or talk about in a full video. These aren’t squishy ace bushings. They’re hard doh dohs. Your options are pretty limited at a 7.6in in axel width, but with the bushing upgrade the taller more upright aces make for a pretty good freestyle truck, giving some more room for your feet in primo. It’s like buying a kitchen knife for its nice handle, in which case the blade is going to be snapped off long or short. You just want the handle 💪

    I also blew out the bushings on a set of thunders, granted it was over about 8 months of skating. The washer ontop of the bushings literally bent so much that it absorbed the kingpin nut to the point that I couldn’t take it off until it broke. Finally bought some new parts and run a mix of the original bottom bushings and doh dohs on top, been working very well as of late. I enjoyed ur video, that old school kick flip was clean.

    Hi Sarah! I'm new to skateboarding, just bought one actually, I'm a girl and I'm very happy KZread recommended me your channel. Do you happen do have any tips on how to balance on your skateboard, or the first thing a beginner should know when stepping on their board for the first time? 😅

  • @SarahParkMatott

    @SarahParkMatott

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Rai! Welcome to skateboarding. That's awesome! I would try to focus on two things. 1. I'd practice and get familiar with my skateboard on stable surface like carpet or grass. Just stepping up onto it and balancing on one foot. Getting used to the step up and step down. 2. Practince balancing just on your front foot on a hard surface. Place the front foot on the board near the front bolts. And just lift your back pushing foot off the ground a little bit! The foot can touch the ground, you just want your weight off of it. You can build up strength and balance here while the back foot works like a little anchor! And when you feel good you can start to slowly push with that back foot and experiment there! Good luck Rai! Just take it slow and have fun 💪 I'd also look up a few freestyle tricks like the tail stop shuffle from Mike Osterman. Those are fun to do on carpet/grass to start getting familiar with the skateboard!

    These are the griffins for kids (small shoe size here)...and they're okay. I actually talk about them in a review on my channel. However, they're way too thin for my style of skating. Love the flexible sole, but the thin uppers were really uncomfortable for me. I did get a rip quickly too. I'd agree for at least this model, it didn't seem like they'd last very long. I bought another pair of different shoes at the same time and have mostly skated the other pair. So, I actually didn't wear these out yet.

    What's the best for tricks loose or tight trucks ?

  • @tungstendeliz4960

    @tungstendeliz4960

    9 ай бұрын

    It depends! Generally speaking, tight trucks make you more stable and allow you to land a bit more off-center without losing balance; there's more margin for error. However, if you're doing tricks on transition, sometimes the maneuverability of loose trucks makes it easier to land something kinda sideways and still be able to immediately turn so that you don't faceplant.
