That was so helpfull! I am disabled and all my life my parents have stopped me from doing sports like that. Now at 30 I learned how to ride a scooter and yesterday I bought a skate but I have trouble with stability so I hope with tight wheels I can learn easier

Great tutorial for beginners! I would add that making incremental changes to the trucks--say a quarter turn, or even less like 1/6 of a turn since the nut is six-sided--is better for dialing in the turning to one's personal preference and comfort. I personally leave the flat side of the nut parallel with the axle, so that there is less hang-up and friction during grinds, and when it does get ground down you are still able to get a socket on for future adjustment. And for beginners, it is advisable to start a little stiffer, but work towards looser trucks as you build confidence and stability so that you achieve maximum performance and ride-ability.

Thinking of buying a Rampage Plain Third from you guys (I’m on a low budget) and after reading some reviews some people complained about the trucks and bearings being low quality and needing some adjustments. all skateboards will need adjusting and maintaining no matter the budget. Its always handy to have a skate tool on hand for when you want to tighten or loosen something.

I have bought two sets of formula four and the wheels wobble 0,5-0,7mm is this with in specs? I use bearing spacers and new bearings. I also have three sets with Ricta and they doesn't wobble at all.

I’ve had a single longboard for the last 11 years, got it as an 8 year old girl and took it down to a skate shop where some dickwad 14 year old made fun of me and I never really got into the skating community, just used my board for fun on my own. Now at 19, I got my second board ever and am going to try to change the wheels-something I never did in the lifespan of my last one. Thank you for such an easy to understand video, I’m maybe a few years late on learning this but its nice to know not everybody is as scary as 8 year old me maybe thought!

Can someone please help!!! my wheels don’t have much free spin so I’ve tried to use a skate tool to loosen the axle nut, but for some reason they will NOT budge. I’m not sure if it’s a fault with the bearings or if I should use some lubricant?

1:59 this has always been a question of mine: the wheels/bearings come with those little washers, so why can't you tighten them up pretty good and just let the bearing do it's job? It always seems like guys get that slight side to side play which essentially means the inside of the bearing is just spinning on the axle instead of the little balls inside doing their job.

Yes, skatehut don't like using spacers, spacers support the inner races so the axle nut can actually be tightened as it should be, without a spacer if you tighten the nut the bearings bind up because they are pulled towards each other, as an engineer a roller bearing set up without a spacer is completely triggering to me.

@@misscrabstick I'm saying: I use my little washers that come with the bearings, if I actually tighten the nut down the wheel binds (and I'm not even saying super tight, just like a little bit to where there's no back and forth play on the axle).

got some tensore trucks for the first time and man they are so damn loose. not used to that! i usually have them really tight. even on the hardest setting they still feel to lose. might geht some harder bushings.

i would go maybe 80 durometer and possibly 65mm wheels if it's on a skateboard deck, but up to you bud :)

Slightly loosen them

I'm a big guy. 6ft 3" high around 90k in weight. I'm a beginner and when I skated I did feel the wobble at speed going down ramps. I'm worried if I tighten the King pin too much it may split the bush. Any advice on how far I can tighten it will be appreciated
