How To ACTIVATE Your Lats Properly

Спорт

In this video Luke goes to see Michael at Integra Education to go through how to activate your lats properly. Michael has been working with Luke during his Natural Bodybuilding Prep Series.
Engaging the lats has been a thing that Luke has been working on more. With coach Eric Helms mentioning it to help with his posing.
Michael Goulden has a masters degree in Biomechanics and goes through how to engage your lats. Engaging the lats tends to be a problem for a lot of trainees. In fact most posterior muscles tend to be harder engage and get that mind muscle connection.
You will learn the Latissimus Dorsi origin and insertion points and what movements occur when the lats contract.
Michael goes through various exercises to help work the lats through different angles and range of motion.

3 years ago i was 17 and watched this video and thought it made exercising too complicated, squat bench deadlift give you all the gains and now i am 20 digging into the rabbit hole of anatomy, strength and resistance curve, i know how dump i was and know how precious this series is 😂

this is hands down one of the best if not the best lat video on the internet!!! i hope you expand this to other mucle parts! One question though.. you target lats specifically in this video, but what about scapular retraction.. isn't this leaving serratus anterior out of the workout completely? do you compensate for that with different exercises you add on top then?

  • @ptcollective

Jace G thanks buddy. Not sure what you mean. The serrated anterior creates protraction of the shoulder girdle.

Darn, yeah I'm totally wrong. :D Meant the scapular retraction, but somehow I added serratus there.. Sorry, totally my bad.. Must be something to do with me trying to find out some "winged scapula" protocols and fixes on google for myself lol

Great! Yes, I'd like to hear about the different strength profiles of different muscles. E.g. is the strength profile of the lats different to the strength profile of the triceps. Thanks and keep them coming!
