Most of these videos fail to mention an important detail. All these new age amazing managers work at relatively smaller clubs, and oppositions don't sit back against them. The biggest problem when they go to bigger clubs is breaking down low blocks.

Relevant, but everyone needs experience, just like in any other profession. You can’t be world’s best manager in the beginning of your career. Inzaghi learned a lot in recent years and now is one of the best. Xabi Alonso is also developing very well.

And thank you for making this well-made & easy-to-understand video. Zirkzee's movement reminds me of the freedom of positioning during attacking build-ups that Maddison has at Tottenham. Sometimes he drop deep near Bissouma or around the team's penalty box. If the opponent follows, there are space for his teammate to move into. Also, impressive numbers from Zirkzee regarding his xG & xA. That could & would definitely be notice by - with all due respect to Bologna - the bigger clubs.

I would love to hear your thoughts about Juventus strategic issues, if there's any reason to play as passively as they usually do (perhaps a lack of creative midfielders as some people suggest) or if it's just a byproduct of a defensive-minded coach. That really should be a given and something a coach doesn't have to actively demand from pro players, at least in any other sports that's the case but that's kind of the sadness we have to live with i guess.

I just think the double pivot isn't effective when you play against a team who plays with a low block. Motta has his team counter press really well, but he hasn't played with teams that use a low block all that often.

What strikes the attention is that every single one of the players of this Bologna seems perfectly born to play Motta's football. It's really difficult to find ONE player who openly seems out of the schemes, in difficulties applying Motta's requests or simply not playing at his 100%. Probably just Karlsson at the start of the season, and his is a comprehensible difficulty since he's used to a less defensive and organized football. But seriously everyone on the pitch, from the starters to the subs, is at his ease with Motta's requests expressing his best. Calafiori, Zirkzee, Fabbian, Ferguson, Orsolini, even the less famous and flashy Aebischer, Freuler, Beukema, Lucumì, Saelemaekers, Ndoye, Kristiansen: it's clear they all know exactly and perfectly what to do on the pitch

dont knw if am gonna get hate for this...but if you analyse carefully, this is actually how ten hag wants to play at united. the inverted centrebacks, the reason for bringing onana coz he obviously was planning to be playing the ball more on united's half, then quickly transition on attack in the space behind the defenders(that's why u hear him say everyday "we want to be the best transition team"). i think he just doesn't have the ball-playing centreback to back Martinez and injuries made it even worse, lets see when he gets centrebacks in the summer how next season will look like.

Bologna will definitely end up the season as 4th or 5th, but the worst possible thing for them would be losing Motta at the end of the season, and the two best players, Zirkzee & Luis Ferguson. For the first one, Milan is very, very hot, as well as Napoli, who also likes Ferguson a lot, but for him, there's a strong opposition in Juventus (which I think, it'll be such a sad site to see himplay under Allegri, who isn't just a coach - together with Mourinho - from Jurassic era), and althoough they'll fill their budget significantly and be able t buy mre players than what they did last summer, still, it'll be a big blow, especially f they end up in CL!

Nobody is re-inventing the wheel, pre late 1960's when almost every club adopted the 4-4-2 shape, teams were set up in a very attacking team shape. Liverpool have played with a high press from 1960's, through to current day as well as goal keepers playing as a sweeper and defensive players encouraged to join in going forward with rotation of other players as cover! These managers are credited with inventing modern football when all it amounts to is an adaptation or variation on team shapes from 40- 60 years ago

Motta is a Gasperini disciple. Freuler had sayd that motta play exactly like gasperini from the half way to the foward. It change in defense.

2 things to consider: 1- Inter and Milan are more attacking prone than Bologna in Serie A 2- we are talking about a mid team facing teams that won't sit back and try to steal a draw or punish on a counter. Will Thiago Motta will be able to do the same in a big club when is needed to find alternatives on breaking down low blocks?
