my problem with most star wars legends battles is that the rebels always win by plot armor. I mean a bunch of frigates vs 4 ISD's and a gladiator would have been over in no time if not for the presense of some "hero" character, In most battles the rebels/ NR win its not because of clever tactics or superior skill its just because some important named character was there and made the imperials all die. A prime example the battle of orinda where the rebels only escaped because rouge squadron destroyed a group of interdictors. yeah just blew them up, somehow a squadron of fighters just exploded 6 418 cruisers, sure they had E wings but seriously? at least in the movies when the deaths stars got blown up it was because of a well defined weakness, not "lando was awesome and used the falcon to blow up the death star"

I agree. The amount of plot amor, which the new republic and the rebel alliances have is just insane. For example the Milenium Falcon, a transport ship, converted into a smuggler ship, which was never intended to see combat above star fighter vs star fighter combat some how destroys an shielded Exacutor by itself. The problem is, that Disney does the same thing. The Ghost is a parade example for that, it destroys entire imperial fleets, while not being equipted for anti capital ship combat.

I think it's very likely there was MORE than a dozen rebel ships this time, at least. There were loads of Corellian corvettes around, in game. And gunships in the cutscenes. Maybe a Mon Cal cruiser elsewhere.

Seems like the Alliance had quite a few early victories in Legends, despite what the opening crawl said. Chronologically, you'd have the first Force Unleashed game, and the Alliance's founding. Then the rescue of Ackbar early on (from Tarkin) and the majority of the Empire at War levels, acquiring the X-Wing, getting technical info for the Mon Cal cruisers to be refitted. Then the Kamino battle comes either before or after Turkana, followed by the X-Wing game and the battles leading to Yavin.

Sadly the game was short. This section was probably the most fun. I finished the game in under two hours

I just played TFU II two days ago, and I find this Battle Breakdown of one of my favourite battles in Star Wars history. Sweet!

One of my favorite legend battle and I like all the different types of ship and I'm glad you cover it. Great video and battle background is my favorite series.

General grevous: Shit I need some of that plot armor.

Remember when Ahsoka's fighting style was based off Starkiller? And this was due to both being apprentice to the same person. I have a feeling Ahsoka and Starkiller may have met each other if Disney didn't buy Star Wars and made the EU stuff non-canon.

Not really as Mass Effect doesn't have interdiction tech which would be required (their universe doesn't have an equivalent to the gravity wells of Star Wars as the laws of physics are different)

FTL in Mass Effect works by reducing the mass of a ship to the point where said ship can travel faster than light in realspace. Hypothetically, if a ship in FTL were to cross into a mass effect field with sufficient mass-increasing properties, it would be ripped right out of FTL. Granted, they don't have ships with interdiction capabilities, but I surmise based on the ubiquity of mass effect fields that it wouldn't be prohibitively difficult to improvise something of that nature. The maneuver wouldn't be as tactically valuable in Mass Effect, however, because precision of FTL jumps isn't really an issue.

Nav coordinates and schematics for the cloning facilities on Kamino. Everything the Alliance needs to launch a successful strike.

So much for the Battle to capture the Death Star plans (Whether Scarif or one of the several Legends battles) being the first major victory of the Alliance.

Even in Legends, there were some other big victories of the Alliance before the succesful stealing of the Death Star plans (for example the battle of Turkana)

Just placed my order 20 minutes before the deadline for my Carida imperial academy shirt!

Love the part of the battle when the Starkiller clone used his force lightning to power and fire the fusion accelerator cannon. It was fun watching the cannon's blast rip a Star Destroyer in half. But the whole level where you have to clean up the Imperial boarding parties was annoying, especially the terror droid units.

I always thought the Salvation looked waay to big to be a regular nebulon B. It looked more sililar to a cruiser class and ive tried to see if it was a modified or maybe a prototype class of the nebulon ship line since it went head to head in a gunfight against a freaking imperial class star destroyer and didnt just get instantly pulverized. And even after they rammed the salvation through kamino's shield I still dont understand how the 11 ships with nothing larger than a dreadnought couldve taken out 3 star destroyers. I wish they couldve thrown in maybe a sullust cruiser or some B-wings to make the battle seem a little more plausible to win for the rebels other than mega thick plot armor. just my opinion though. sorry for long comment ^^

It's definitely like three times too big, on inside and outside. Either it's an unusual variant, or we treat as artistic license. The novel of the game implies it's a standard frigate.

How the hell are 5 star destroyers with over 250 turbo lasers combinded unable to destroy a Nebulon B frigate, a Quaser and two assault frigates? Seriously, the rebel fleet should have been anilated, then the Moncalamari ships arrived.

The same reason Starkiller can "Force-supercharge" a turbolaser to destroy a Star Destroyer in one shot; TFU gives zero shits about the lore, it just wants awesome, over-the-top action scenes to make the player feel like a god.

At the end of the game, if you choose the dark side path, you almost kill Vader, but then the original starkiller massacres everyone on the platform, save for Vader who he still serves. I think that the revelation of the original starkiller still being alive implies he is the means to Vader’s escape

This is actually one of my favorite battles in all of star wars. It showed the Rebellion taking losses and a Imperial navy detachment not, lead by Vader or Thrawn, as a serious threat. Something we haven't really seen outside of RO.

The Force Unleashed games came out back before the Legends in Cannon split so I'm talking about the legends Canon when I refer to this, I don't know if it's the same as Cannon cannons explanation but considering Kamino is now a dead planet in the way of it sentient beings I kind of like the fact that it's eventually just returns to the ocean

Chris sonofPear and you are right but here's a little history lesson as to the personal history of the planet. Originally that planet was not an ocean planet but a planet similar to Hoth with a significantly warmer tropical Zone where the original Kaminoians evolved and thrived, but similar to our planet their Industrial Age push them into a technological crisis where there ozone layer deteriorated and all the ice melted and during the events that led up to that only one faction set up a city capable of surviving the raised in the ocean level and that was the surviving faction that made their one and only City on that planet. I can't remember if it is or was part of the Canon or not but that City it was supposed to be the only city on kamino

I feel like all those Star Destroyers would’ve sweeped the Rebel Fleet. In my opinion as well, you’ve got Darth Vader planetside and Kamino has the cloning facilities. I expected Kamino to have the defenses of a Fortress World. Once again, the smaller Rebel Fleet defeated a superior Imperial Fleet even though the size of the Imperial fleet is not enough for the task they’ve been assigned.

In the WII version, the Salvation was the M1 Assault Frigate. Also, the three Star Destroyers that appear on screen are all Imperial.

The EMpire relies often on brute strength meaning bigass star destroyers while the Tebellion could put together fleets and taskforces that despite the smaller capital ships could actually take out fleets with many times bigger ships.

Why not just ram the ISD's into the facility, rather than into the ocean? Say what you want about there bad design, but you gotta admit tgat they make one HELL of a battering ram.

Imperial-I- and Imperial-II-class star destroyers aren't really poorly designed. As an anti-capital-ship ship and an orbital bombardment ship, they're actually quite well-designed. Most of their firepower is forward-facing, making it fairly easy to concentrate fire on a single target, and their design presents a comparatively low profile at that angle compared to, for instance, an MC80, which would have to be top-on to be able to get the same relative amount of firepower on the target. The main issue, though, is that the Imperial-I and Imperial-II suck at nearly everything else. They're cripplingly overspecialised, and the Imperial Navy has the unfortunate habit of treating them as MC80s and using them as all-rounders instead of deploying them in mixed fleets with other ship types that can cover their weaknesses. Ideally, the Empire would want to have each one swarming with frigates, with enough assault carriers around to screen the lot of them. It also goes without saying that they'd need to use more effective fighters than TIE-LNs, considering that is one of the worst designs in canon.

Because for Starkilled (who was essencially manning the ISD), that battle was never a seek-and-destroy raid. It was a hostage rescue operation. And given his personality, I'd have no doubts at all that he'd be willing to deliberately undermine the Alliance by holding it back if it meant that he might get a chance to free Juno

ok, question: I'm playing thrawn's revenge, hunt for Zsingj (spelled wrong), and to my knowledge, to advance in Era, I have to eliminate the next up imperial (playing as rebels) which is Ysanne Isard....do I advance in era (starting game indicates only "era 1") so if I did have to eliminate Imperial leader X (palpatine, etc) I advance (I did pop Zsinj, but still have to eliminate all other Imperial forces) whereabouts would I find said leaders? or am I stuck with Era one tech?

Was this, as well as the mission from the Kyle Katarn stories, the Scarif of Legends?

How about the mammoth mk2 from command and conquer vs the AT-AT for your next versus match. It would be quite a match up with walkers. When you look at it both are engineered to lessen the effect of the others main armement. As seen when the mammoth takes out a nod base that shrugs off a hit from an oblisc of light a high powered laser based base defense weapon. Where the AT-AT takes mass driver hits from the AT-TE.

There is also a Battle of Kamino during the Clone wars, in which Asajj Ventress and General Grievous attempt to steal a copy of the DNA used for clones.

Eckhart, I know you are new to the Warhammer40k universe, but could you analyze a battle between the fleets of the Galactic Empire and the Imperium of Man? I'd so love to see how a battle like that would play out if the starting forces were more or less equal.

Thanks for the video :) I think the ISDs are often portrayed weaker than they actually are. In the 2nd part of the "The Jedi knights" series - The black flood - it is stated that ISDs are superior in fighting the Vong ships as they have better armor - and therfor better protection against Vong weaponary - and enough fire power to stand up against Vong capital ships against mon cal cruisers would falter. The ISD would still take severe damage in the process, but it had a chance of survival whereas the MonCals couldn´t stand up in a 1v1 fight against Vong capitals. It´s funny how the ISDs hyperstrong armor always gets ignored in most battles and they just die once their shields are gone. Yes their shields are their main line of defense, but ordinary x-wings without bomber support are just unable to damagge ISDs to a degree that they get destroyed - as stated in x-wing wraith squadron. I think ISDs are not good against fighters, yes, but in destroying corvette size and bigger ships they excel. As for the battle of Kamino: I think the ISDs could easily prevent the nebulon B frig to reach the planet as they could just tractor beam and hold it in place while trashing it - much like in empire at war. Well- maybe Starkiller might stil find a way as he is a force user after all - but that´s just Star Wars. If no force user was present there´d be no chance in hell those rebels would have won this battle except when they brought like at least 3 mon cals at the START of the battle to tank the ISDs (I think like 5 Mon Cals on top on the frigate fleet would be necessary to ensure victory as the imperial fleet would use their superior firepower to focus on single cap ship targets to kill them off quickly).

Please do a starship vs. battle between an acclimator assault ship and the Lockheed Martin CL-1201 AAC concept. In atmosphere of course.

This game came out in a post-Clone Wars but pre-Disney era. I wish we had more time to experience more Expanded Universe games that acknowledged TCW

(34th request) 1 CAS Class Assault Carrier with 4 CSS Class Battlecruisers and 4 SDV-class heavy corvettes VS 1 Bellator Class Super Star Destroyer (yes i look it up and the Bellator Class has Fighters about 100 of them) 4 Imperial 2 class Star Destroyers and 4 Dreadnought Class Heavy cruisers (theses ships use to be Victory 2 class Star Destroyers but that would give the Empire too much an edge in the battle so i made them Dreadnought class Heavy cruisers instated too make it equal in a way)

@EckhartsLadder Now that star citizen is approaching a playable state, will you also start to consider its ships for the VS series? I think that the star citizen universe has more than enough information to make a fair comparison between ships, and ships like the Bengal Carries definitely pack a big enough punch to make it on a list.
