@ninja6245-real also depends on the kind of table. As a DM I'm trying to give a satisfying experience rather than aiming to eliminate players, so random encounter enemies don't usually employ much in the way of tactics, they're there to give the players a new kind of puzzle to solve. If I took those same npcs and played tactically like a wargame I wouldn't be surprised if the story was very different.

DM talked to them multiple times and they basically told the DM to go eff themselves and the DM did everything he could before just kicking the player out but every time he tried to kill the pc dude would roll high enough to be safe. Or he would conviently know a cantrip thatd help get him out of a situation, finally one day the PC died and dude wigged out throwing shit around and everything and stormed out of the apartment. He left his dice and character sheet and we realized his dice set had 2 D20 dice one was weighted for nat 20s one wasnt and we realized he would keep one in his sleeve and just sleight of hand switch them out depending on if he needed a high roll or not.

The notes behind the screen were all blank sheets of paper covered in the words “KILL THE ROGUE”
Perfect justice served by a pint-sized prosecutor
