Great information as usual. Especially for the newbies like us. We are heading to the Keys in two weeks with boat in tow. Grabbing the "old school" chats for that area as well. Planning is essential for sure. Thanks Wayne!

LOL - You can use 'chats' if you're from New England! Have fun in the keys!!! That's on my list for a 'someday' destination! But also download the "Nautical" app for your phone too!

@@WayneTheBoatGuy I was just about to ask you what "apps" you'd recommend. You beat me to the punch. Right now I have the following apps.... Tides, Windy, and BoatingHD(which the trial period ran out). So, I will absolutely check out "Nautical" app right away. Thanks again. Cheers!

That's a very neat idea! I might have to wait a few more years - and have a boat with a proper sleeping area too!

not to mention sucking all the sand up inside of your water pump which if it goes unnoticed it was certainly destroy the internals of the motor by overheating. and if it was my luck it would go out on me while I was 7 to 10 miles offshore. on one of the busiest days of the year where tow boat USA has got a 8-hour wait. lol. even though 90% of the stuff you mentioned seems to be common knowledge it's always good to go over everything especially since I don't get out in the boat but three times a year maybe four that it certainly not muscle memory. I got lucky I pulled my boat out of a boat ramp one time without raising the motor. that could have been a hellacious day. just one of the things that should be obvious to everybody but can go unnoticed too many voters that doesn't go out very often or you got your mind on other things new people in the boat and such. anyway thank you for your time

Yeah, I don't think many people consider just how long a person could be waiting to be towed in!

I’m on the Saint Lawrence sea way just ripped my bravo drive off absolutely devastating I just got the boat last month . We have areas just like this here how ever I learned that quickly I ended up hitting an under water wall unfortunately. Unmarked how do I avoid this ?

@@WayneTheBoatGuy keep an eye out for me when you are out and about on the water. I work for Maguire marine construction. I am the lead carpenter and I guess you would say 2nd in charge. If you do see the barge feel free to come say hi. Also on your shallow water video I want to say you were filming it right around where we along with the M.R.A. have set around 120 reef balls. That is if I'm looking at it correctly. It looks like that is the mouth of the magothy over your left shoulder and Solomon island over your right shoulder.

It varies by the boat. Some boats have a shallow draft and if they aren't loaded down with fuel and people, they might be able to handle pretty shallow waters - like under 2 feet (24 inches). But it can really vary by weight and design of the boat.
