How To Anchor at the Sandbar or beach by Boat - Understanding Tide & Current
How many times have you tried to anchor your boat at the sandbar or beach and stressed about it?? No one wants to be "that person" who ends up high and dry when the tide goes out! I would think 100% of boaters have hit bottom at least once in their lifetime. If they say they haven't well they are probably just not telling the truth! 🤣 We have been there ourselves! In this video we cover what tide charts we use, how to properly read them and what questions you should be asking yourself BEFORE setting up at the sandbar. We go over how to read the water, watch for fellow boaters and understand what anchor you should be throwing! We hope you find this video helpful and feel confident at your next sandbar or beach anchor adventure!

I’m old enough to be your Nona and you are teaching me so much!!! I just retired and got a pontoon boat and need to learn everything. I’ve never had a boat, never came from a family of boaters but it’s something that I’ve always wanted. Thanks so much for helping me. I want to be able to take the boat on my own without waiting for one of my kids. I appreciate so much this channel!!!!

good luck getting your silver plaque! I love how confident you sound, I get that as younger persons and not being men, tons of real life boaters probably think you are on your daddy's boat and no clue. Thats sucks, but here on the internet we are looking for helpful content. My only helpful advice as someone who is constantly the "new guy" to the boating community is say things like "this is how we do it " because someone where else it might be done exactly the opposite. Thank you for the videos.

The prudent mariner needs to keep an eye on folks like "that guy" who just drives in and drops the hook. Have seen several who thought they were all set and everybody jumps off the boat and heads to the beach. Twenty minutes later that boat is either dragging its anchor or has slipped the anchor and is now creating a hazard to other properly anchored boats. Or even if the hook does grab, they miscalculated the amount of rode paid out and are now right on top of another boat. Anchoring in a crowd is always an experience.

Correct; but then you’ve got up account for your keel or drive offset, which is very critical. In my opinion, that should be where the depth offset should be set to.

The OCD in me is wanting to come and put a fresh coat of paint on your engines, argh! 100K is quickly approaching, where's the party? But seriously, congrats, it couldn't happen to a harder working set of twins. Your videos continue to get better and better, love the drone footage. Another fishing channel I watch (Life by the Bow), puts out some incredible drone footage - I'm sure you could do the same with some practice. BTW, many of the boats I see off of Tampa anchored on those keys use the stern anchor as well as the bow, is there an advantage in doing so?

BRILLIANT way to go GIRLS, you learn things the proper first time around it keeps you safe forever, the other guy was not young but the amount of people on his boat tells me he has experience , ( maybe not in sand bars but still ) dont have a boat never will have one but I want a inflatable Dinghy with outboard motor. what your teaching here applies to all boats, as a novice I would alway look to what other boat are doing positioning but you gals explain why in which is good education, Thanks for the education Ray K. UK. YNWA.
