Natural tobacco is carcinogenic ; but from what appears to me in a much less so degree than later industrialized cigarettes . So while smoking has always come with the risk of cancer, the risk has risen dramatically from the 1960s or so.

I mean that's true to some degree, but the bigger picture is that indigenous people just used tobacco amongst themselves--it's not as if they crossed an ocean with fckin shiploads of it and pushed it on Europeans. Europeans crossed an ocean and in the process of doing genocide they decided they wanted tobacco, and they traded items of value for it. Then EUROPEANS commercialized it and exported it to the rest of the world. Rush is a massive dipshyt. I mean, he was. Cause he's dead.

@@treyeden6132 Yeah maybe natural tobacco smoke is a few percentage points less carcinogenic than tobacco with additives, but I'm assuming we're talking something like 55% vs 60%. Like you still are over 50% more likely to get cancer by habitually breathing in the more "natural" products of combustion than none at all. I'm just spitballing numbers, no research done. And I'm a smoker of "natural tobacco", but I'm not under the illusion that I am meaningfully safer because I smoke American Spirits instead of Pall Palls now...I just think they just have a nicer quality.

Rush Limbaugh is my mom’s cousin and distant of mine! It was a relief to the entire family to hear this news that he can no longer stain the family name as his father, the original rush Limbaugh, who did so much social justice work and was a progressive judge. After my uncle got laid off in 08, he fell into a depression. All he did all day was sit in his recliner, smoke cigarettes, and listen to rush limbaugh. He died of esophageal cancer in 2011, still listening to his daily talk show. I’m glad rush is dead. It feels like I can finally put this memory of my uncle to rest now. Even though he was brainwashed at the end of his life, he was still a good dad to my cousins. RIP Jeff ❤️

I live with the regret of my past views, and i HATE i participated in that racist culture as long as i did during the 2016 election. (I'm glad i never physically hurt anyone that i know of) People can be redeemed and realize their mistakes and work to fix the damage they caused. People can be de-radicalized and deprogrammed and educated to become better people. As i was, i discovered my new gender identity and embraced my sexuality. After my best friend cut me off because of the things i supported/the kind of person i was, i took a hard look at my life. And i made the conscious efforts to change.

When I lived in Kentucky, there were times I had to take a cab to work because I was broke and didn’t have time to ride my bike, and the cab driver (with a Union job) who took me to work (he was the guy who wanted to antagonize me) would always have rush on the radio. The foul garbage that came out of his mouth regularly pissed me off constantly. I’ve been a lefty most all of my life. I protested the Iraq War, and Rush will not be missed in this household. He was a horrible human being, and while I don’t wish death on anyone, there are people I will not mourn.

Depends on your perspective of god. Aside from a few touchy-feely passages in the New Testament, Torah, Koran, whatever, the Abrahamic god sounds like a psychotic, gore-drenched demon to me. Sounds like Rush's guy. I just hope it's as honest as he is, at least when it comes to paradise, so with any luck it's using his soul as a chew-toy for eternity.

I first heard of rush limbaugh from my mom, she told me that when she was in her early 20s in a conservative environment her then boyfriend would watch him and she was so annoyed by how loud and in your face he was she completely lost any interest she had in right wing or conservative politics. She's a demsoc now, so Rush accidentally did something good haha

Hearing about his death made me the happiest I’ve been in a long while. Him and Reagan absolutely rotted my dad’s brain, and my life was made worse growing up because of stuff he pushed on the radio.

i legit went "wait he's dead?!?" out loud while smiling. that isn't a good thing to be that shitty of a person that someone smiles when you die.

I've never felt such a conflict of memories and horror listening to this. I have to get this off my chest: I grew up listening to Rush's radio when I was a middle school - gotta be like around 2005 - 2007 plus I hung out with my Grandparents. I then got bored of Rush and got really big into Glenn Beck. I also see where I and my Grandparents were brainwashed - excepts, I escaped it later. Once I moved out on my own, I started to slowly reset. I listened to little bits of truth, slowly. I listened to The Dollop and slowly started hearing actual American history. The Ronald Reagan episodes were big. I hated Trump since he started running in 2015, because at least Glenn Beck called him out for the evil bully that he is (at first, now he supports him because all of his listeners support Trump). I never got over Trump's evil, bullying Ted Cruz, then Ted Cruz licking Trump's boot. Then the pandemic hit and the blinders were fully off to how much conservatives use talking points and propaganda.

Congratulations to Rush Limbaugh for 1 month of sobriety.

I lost a lot of friends over me cheering his death. Can't say it didn't hurt because I was close with them, but I'm not gonna sit idly by while he was spewing his hatred against people like me. For context, I'm a bi man. And most of my friends are centrist/right leaning while I'm not. I'm slightly left leaning/centrist myself, but I wouldn't fit myself into any political party. Anyways, rush limbaugh brainwashed a lot of my family and friends into thinking that i shouldn't be allowed to have rights regarding my sexuality. I like guys and girls, but apparently that's a problem. I'm really glad limbaugh died, so now we won't have to hear his bullshit anymore, but I'm really not sure what to do moving forward..

I have an Boomer Dad and growing up all we listened to was Rush Limbaugh , before I knew what politics even were I remember falling asleep in the car listening to his voice.
