How One Man Flies Hundreds of Miles Using Balloons
Remember when Carl tied all those balloons to his house in the Pixar movie “Up” and flew? Jonathan Trappe does that in real life. He attaches helium balloons to office chairs, gondolas, boats, even little houses, and he goes flying. Trappe has crossed the English Channel and soared over the Alps. He’s witnessed spectacular sunsets and glorious moonrises. Here’s how a guy who is an IT consultant by day made his wildest childhood dream a reality.

@@stpidstuff Sorry - I didn't hear Jonathan say they were safer. When did he say that? He would know better than I would. The reason I mentioned apples and oranges is that there are differences in the way that cluster balloons, hot air balloons and gas balloons are flown - They all have their own idiosyncrasies. I'm basing that partly on things that I learned from a talk he gave on the history of lighter-than-air flight about 15 years ago, so I'm surprised to hear he made that kind of absolute statement.

The world: Is running out of Helium! This man: Anyways, I started flying
@goosenuggets9693

The US government has enough reserves of helium for over a century, but it's heavily regulated.
I grew up with adults with no hobbies but living life miserably but doing drugs and drinking even after working, so I grew up thinking adult life is always going to be tragic and boring like that. But as I grow older and see these adults with such wonderful hobbies and dreams and achieving them even with a day job gives me hope for when I grow older.
The one and only bucket list for me. Absolutely breathtaking. After doing this I would be glad to have lived.
If we depleted all our helium, we know now who's to blame.
