I was recently invited to apply for an account manager role by that team's manager and VP at my company, and I have absolutely no experience in this type of role. I really appreciate this breakdown to help me research it and admire your demeanor! I can imagine it is great to be your client :)

Thanks Toni - Experience isn't everything. Enthusiasm and willingness to learn goes a long way. And they obviously saw something in you by inviting you to apply! Congrats on getting the job!

Your content is great! It has helped me move into a great account management position with a 30k pay rise! Question - do you have a video about how to stay organised when travelling for work?

I'm so glad Tessa and BAM about the pay rise!! 🎉 Congratulations! on the subject of staying organised when travelling for work, I haven't got any specific content. Though I did JUST listen to this podcast and it talked about separating "on field" (in front of the customer) and "off field" activity. It was an interesting idea. For example, if you know you're travelling tomorrow, then don't do emails today, because you've got all that dead time on trains, or in airports etc to do that stuff. open.spotify.com/episode/5A1X1Mx3WA3jixDj3w28yD?si=e83a86e94a6f4b13 Let me know what you think if you give it a listen.

Useful video. It was hard to see the numbers though, but that is easily fixed. Now that the world economy is opening up there should be new career opportunities. Which industries that need K A Ms do you think will bounce best?

Oh I'm sorry about the numbers. You're right I should have made them bigger. I'll remember that for next time I do charts. I've added details to the video description though. On the question about which industries will bounce back - some are going to take a lot longer than others. This article from McKinsey has some data for US business and how long they'll take to get back to normal www.mckinsey.com/industries/public-and-social-sector/our-insights/us-small-business-recovery-after-the-covid-19-crisis For account managers - the good news is that customer retention is a huge focus and it became clear in the pandemic how important it was to invest in account management and customer success. I expect that to continue. Industries like Healthcare, Education, Cloud computing, Cyber security, Logistics, Automation and e-Commerce are big winners from the pandemic and those are where I predict huge growth in career opportunities for key account managers. (might do a video on this! You've given me an idea!) Hope that helps.

Well, the video is over 2 years old and you're the first to say so 😉 Good news is I'm always improving with audio engineering and I've invested in better equipment since then, so give a more recent video a try and see if you notice the difference?
