Absolute bullshit. No way you cut and polish a rattle can acrylic paint job within hours without melting / ripping / tearing the paint off in patches

My favourite is the seized bolt that the previous owner has had a go at and failed. Looks ok at first, but only because the rust has formed into the rough shape of a hex head. Socket needs hammering on, then spins freely on the perfectly rounded off head. Car won't go through MOT test without replacing the part this bolt is holding on. Urgh At least all the crying flushes all the bits of rust out your eyes

Some Clio tips - Oil filter is heaps easier to get to when you remove the fuel rail guard (2 x 10mm nuts, piece of piss to remove). - Oil leaks will be the sump gasket (needs subframe dropped or engine lifted up to get the sump out, yay) and the gearbox driveshafts or gear selector seal. Legitimately love the message you guys push here. People are so willing to just throw something away at the first minor inconvenience, and it extends now to more than just material stuff. Relationships, friendships, marriages. People don't try to fix or maintain anything, they just throw it away first little challenge. The world as a whole is losing mechanics and blue collar workers by the droves. There's gonna be a renaissance one day, but it's gonna be rough until then. Appreciate you guys.

You guys were making a "fake Type R" hatchback with a "turbo" but you used some kind of turbo sound speaker box that changed according to the acceleration pedal position to sound like a bov. I remember it was a black hatch. I remember a bunch of the guys we still see on the show now, pulled up to that driveway to assist you back then. You both truly have come along way. I have spent well more than the car is worth the buy another one or even a newer one but I love the car so will keep spending the money to keep it running. I've been doing a similar thing with motorcycles for the past couple of years, buying the cheapest example of a bike that I want to experience riding, although I keep mine for a little longer than this. For me the joy is in bringing something back from the dead & the experiencing in using it. Saving something that's still useful & would otherwise be thrown away is far more important to me than what I'll get when I decide to eventually flip it. Kudos to the boys though for saving a useful car from certain death.

10:39 MCM must have the world record for oil changes on a KZread channel. Polishing turds and oil changes are your bread and butter 😂

Love this ! Had a Clio for a first car and all about keeping things going. Restoring a Citroen axgt currently which has sat in a field for 14 years. The amount of rust is nothing like you would see in Australia (from the uk myself) but it’s taught me the basics of welding 🙂 all a great learning experience and story’s to tell

One of the best episodes for yonks. I totally agree with the philosophy too. I just fixed a computer chair that was headed for the tip with a couple of pieces of aluminium plate, a drill and an angle grinder. It doesn't look stock but no-one but me sees it and I have a working computer chair again.

Really enjoyed this video. Make some more of these. Surprising how much you can tidy up a cheap car. With a simple clean and machine polish you can really transform some of these older cars.

Keep your cars going. I got into DIY repairs back in 2017. I've also found a great local parts yard. That's allowed me to keep my 2006 Dodge Dakota on the road.

That song that starts at 7:30 mark always gets me. I can't recall the specific date when I heard it the first time but it's last year around June or something like that but it was after my gf left me. Hearing this song instantly takes me back to that time after the break up and brings tears in my eyes and makes me think about the things that I had. Struggled the whole year with mental health but now it's getting better day by day. It's been rough but I won't give up just yet.

I always know a kick a** montage is coming when chasing midnight starts up in the background :-D just wanted to say I love watching you guys, been watching for nearly as long as you've been making stuff. So many other shows, channels, creators have come and gone, but you guys are still you, working on nuggets. Keep doing this as long as it makes you happy, because it sure as heck makes a whole lot of us happy too.

I had a Phase 1 Clio 172, they are a serious piece of kit. Really fast with their rev happy engines and short ratio gearboxes, great value for money with cheap parts, apart from the lidicrously expensive and rare engines and transmissions.
