the trick is that keeping it on road in japan would be more expensive than it would be worth(partially due to it being a big engined luxury car thats also big), hence it's value as a road car goes to basically 0 in japan so it's scrap or export and there's very few places to export it to that don't have huge taxes and want right wheel drive cars. australia is pretty much the only one? maybe uk? for thailand it would cost tens of thousands to import it.

Fun fact: These majestas also come with rare factory options like night vision, full LCD gauge cluster, adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist and self parking. I think the main reason majesta owners refer to their cars as crowns is because it is eaiser to explain considering how the average joe wont really know what a crown is let alone a majesta which itself can sound pretentious 😅

Gotta love big luxo-barges. I own a 1996 Buick Roadmaster Wagon with an LT1 5.7 liter V8 that only puts out 260 horsepower but makes 330 ft/lbs of torque just barely off idle. Couple that with a limited slip rear differential geared at 2.93 and it's an absolute blast to bomb around in. It's soggy off the line but then starts pulling hard and freight-trains on-ramps. It's 18 feet(5.4 meters) long and weighs 4400lbs(1995kg), with most of it covered in fake wood vinyl down the sides.

Legit. This color is a price killer. Bought a use 2017 Ford Fusion Titanium a few years back. Had 19k miles. Bought it for 5000 less than the cheapest black, white or blue version we could find, and those were all in the 65-70k mile range.

The color is the only thing I don't love about it. I actually bought one about a month ago (GWS204 Hybrid, but still fast as), but specifically waited for one in pearl white, because they just look so damn clean (and more modern) in that color.

You absolute Legends. Just got back from a 14 day Cherry Blossom tour of Japan and was amazed by the number of older model Toyota Crowns still being used as a Taxis. I remember them from the 80s in Australia and they and the old Datsuns 280c were the silent assassins of the Australian market. And yes, both had the rear seat radio controls. 😎

I had a 2000 Lexus LS430, and its pretty much the same story as your Crown; the place to be is in the back. Mine was a Singapore import so it had a couple of oddball things that if it was a US market or NZ market model it wouldn';t have had. In UCF30 speak it was halfway between a Custom Luxury and an Ultimate Luxury. It had all the good shit in the back minus the footrests, all the heated and cooled seats (the driver's one chucked a fan blade so that was real noisy and vibrated a lot.), the seats had massagers, all the windows were laminated glass, but it didn't have the air suspension (someone chucked it on some Cobra superlow springs so it rubbed a bit when I had my 20s on it) and it didn't have the Mark Levinson audio system. But since it was a Singapore model, the radio worked to the NZ frequencies. I was an animal to that car though. I'd never overheated an engine so bad so many times like I did with that yet it didn't give a shit. The diff was supposedly an LSD but if it was, it was entirely worn out and wouldn't spin two. Still ripped massive skids though. I did also do a starter on it, and I'll take a 1UR starter swap over a 3UZ starter swap any day. There was nothing wrong with it but I was already that deep into the engine I might as well change it out while the manifold was off. Ended up swapping it for a sacked out Woodrigos special Mitsi Pajero which is now a giant sack of rust on the back lawn
