I am Mexican & while it isn’t perfect here, racism exists - I am so happy to see more of my black sisters and brothers coming to Mexico, even in non beach areas, like Central Mexico with all its history & gorgeous colonial architecture. I wish you well and hope you keep having mostly positive discoveries and experiences!

I have been all over Mexico city and Mexico I met actors on TV shows Novella and I have been to the Campos they love me happy to see me. Food is great! Nice malls also. I never run into the Ladrones robbers because I don't go to the bad areas and I don't go to the poor towns or wear jewelry and nice clothing but no discrimination sorry!

Please don’t… whenever Americans move to our country the living prices are raised for the locals. Please please I urge you to research on international gentrification. Regular people in Mexico can’t afford to pay upwards of 600 dlls for a 2 bedroom apartment and in some cities those are the lowest ratings we’re seeing. I get it it’s cheaper than your average 1.4k but it affects communities. The daily minimal wage in Mexico is around 7dlls… do you think it’s affordable for families to rent apartments at 600 dlls? Its not.

The US has done a slander campaign on Mexico since ages. They dont want you to see the beauty of its ppl, the amazing fresh food, the huge cultural from thousands of years ago. You as a black woman will get so much attention in Mexico. Prepare for the stares. We dont see black ppl in Mexico so when we do webare mesmerized. I was always fascinated by the beauty of black ppl when I first came across black ppl in Houston while I was on vacation there. Don't believe the bad stuff the media say about Mexico come and experience Mexico by yourself

I moved to Hermosillo mexico and although I was happy about the $150 per month apt in USD, it gave me a hot plate, a dorm size refrigerator, no water for 12 hours each day--dont remember why. Had to keep a garbage 🗑️ pale of water in shower. Clothes had to be washed by hand--no laundromats in the community..and all the stares, and one in particular there was a girl who worked at the grocery store who would point at me and laugh and have her other coworkers looking at me too. My Mexican boyfriend and I finally got fed up with her and he threatened her and she never did it again when we came to the grocery store. Also, not to mention we had to carry toilet paper with is when we left because they didn't have toilet paper, many places you can't flush it, many wanted you to pay for the toilet paper and to use the restroom. The bus stations definitely do this. But I love Mexico and I think your experience will depend on what part you're in. I like my amenities in the US --toilet paper, tub, washer and dryer, Fuller stove, full refrigerator...and in places that have all these amenities, you're not going to be paying $100 per month. In many instances, foreigners have to pay more money for less amenities that we'd get in the US. Do your homework and visit many places and states in Mexico. The food alone makes me want to return and live there again.
