GL in the new year Greg! FWIW I'd strongly recommend getting your WR up at 1/3 before moving up to 2/5. Ambition is obviously a good thing, but developing your skills is a very multifaceted journey and takes time. If your WR is 2 BB, you might go into a 2/5 game already in the theoretical red. Try doubling or even tripling your current WR before moving up.

Congrats on the winning year Greg, I remember stumbling onto your channel back when you only had a few hundred subs and I think we were pretty close to each other in out poker journeys. Now at the end of 2022 I'm playing 5NL on stars and I'm pretty comfortable, I just moved up from 2NL a couple of months ago, winning at 15bb/100 over 20k hands overall. My goal for the end of 2023 is to be a full-time online pro, being fully financially independent. A big goal I know, but I have spoken about this a lot with my coach and I think it's realistic with how much I've learned just in 2022. Cheers and may 2023 bring big things for both of us!

I totally feel you on that winners tilt. If I'm up big ill start calling with suited 1 gappers and stuff like that and it eats away at your profit for sure. Props to you for recognizing it. Happy new year Greg!

Congrats on profiting this year Greg! I moved up to $2/5 last year and had a strong start, but punted all my profit in 1 week😢. I realized i had an accumulated tilt problem, so i took a break for a couple months and when i came back in December i felt soo much better when playing. I hope we both sun run in 2023!! 🙌🏼

That winners tilt cycle is true for me too. I see it happen within single sessions all the time. I host home games, so I kind of have to keep playing till the game breaks and though I'd be up over 100 big blinds at some points, I'd often lose it all by the end of the night cause I'd start playing splashy.

Hey Greg, always enjoyed your content and I’m happy for you that you had a winning year. You made your goal for 2023 a $ won goal which I think is inherently a bad idea in poker, there are better ways to track results because you can’t really control how much you win. Trying to play X amount of hours or hands, or win/lose a hand of X amount of dollars/bb is a better metric to track your growth in my opinion. Cheers and all the best in 2023

Good job Greg, and I don’t want to take the wind from your sails, but it’s not good for your mindset to set a $$ amount goal. Just set an hours played goal, there’s too much variance in this game to set a realistic money amount. Im still tempted to do it occasionally myself 🤷‍♂️ Also, it’s really great you’ve identified your mental leak.

Don't set winrate goals, they are completely out of your control, especially over a small hand sample size. Look at any serious online players graph and you will see 100k hand long downswings, even for long term crushers doing 3-4BB/100. Instead set goals like working on your mental game, studying more specific spots with solvers, playing more volume, not playing drunk or in a poor mental state etc. These things are in your control so you can actually achieve the outcome.

Ambitious move to 2/5. Not trying to be a hater, but it doesn't look like you are bankrolled for that. Perhaps a better goal would be to not succumb to winners tilt? Results orientated goals are dangerous for poker, a very non results orientated game.
