I love your videos! I couldn't believe when you said that one recess light is 200 dollars. We just installed pod lights into our house and getting them from Amazon and doing it ourselves it came to about 10 dollars per light..

@@lotto5742 under $500. We have 50 square feet of backsplash and we're just quoted $200 for installation. $1,500 for simple subway is insane.

@olya I would run far and fast if someone quoted you $200 for 50sqft of backsplash unless you want to pay to have it done again correctly. $1,500 is not insane by any standard for a professional to install and grout that. His time to give the original estimate, drive time plus fuel cost to and from the job, tool depreciation and the time it takes him to complete the job are all factored into that cost. $200 is insane if you ask myself and many others. I guarantee that guy doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing and won’t be in business long. If he even has one.

Thanks! Yes, the microwave can vent outside or recirculate inside. There are different options. I don’t know the exact model cuz my contractor bought it, but you can search on Home Depot or Best Buy and they have lots of options

I am not American so I don't understand the permit thing with renovating a kitchen, I only know about permits for external alterations like the front of the house or some additional space that you would like to attach to the house, so do you always need the approval of the administration to renovate the interior as well?

Hi! It depends on what type of renovation you do. If just paint, flooring, etc then no, but if you touch the structure, plumbing and electrical, then yes.

Hi, Elisa, thanks so much for this video. This one is especially helpful for me, because I have a similar kitchen to remodel: the kitchen floor is tile, and the living room floor is hardwood narrow plank, just like the one in this video. I'm wondering if you have any tips and pointers of how to make a seamless wooden floor with matching colors? My plan is to demolish the tile floor in the kitchen, put in narrow plank hardwood in the kitchen similar to the living room, sand and stain both living room and kitchen together. Is this what you did? How much does the tile floor demolition and refinish cost?

Glad to hear it's helpful. Yes, we sanded and stained the new and old floor together so they match. We had linoleum floor before and the demo cost depends on the size of the floor, but I think a few hundred for this one. Floor refinishing costs about $5/sqft.

What color paint on the cabinets?

I noticed there was only one electrical outlet on the backsplash near the fridge. Or, did you hide them? If not, just curious since people may want to be able to plug in appliance on the countertop. Love watching your videos!

There are definitely many more outlets - may have been hidden by the staging decor. There’s a building code about how far apart each outlet in the kitchen should be.

How did you find a contractor to do all that for so cheap? I’m getting labor only quotes for 30-80k for a tiny condo kitchen

If you can avoid doing electrical and plumbing costs for remodel that saves you a LOT of MONEY!!!! For me, I just want to update cabinets, new sink and countertops and new cabinet doors and paint. No need to demo anything. That saves me over 10k money.

Can you please share where you are sourcing cabinets? Pre fab ones, even with press board construction, are thousands of dollars. 😬

One of the things that I've been wondering while watching your videos is I notice that you put a lot of new furniture in the house when it is done being remodel. Is that just for showcase or does all that come with the house when the buyers get the house?

These are prefab cabinets and they are on the cheaper end. There are way more expensive semi custom and custom cabinets.
