HOW MUCH Did We Spend In MINDANAO? WE WROTE DOWN EVERYTHING

We wrote down everything we spent on our trip through Mindanao, we were shocked at how much we did actually spend but we are happy that we got to support tourism in a part of the Philippines that doesn't get as much international attention.
As we talk about in this video, travel in the Philippines can be done on a budget or you can end up spending a lot. We saved up for over a year and tried not to limit our choices too much, this cost breakdown is a reflection of that. We hope you find it useful.

ALL of that (food, accommodations, personal driver, tips, and antigen tests for 13 days for a family of 3 plus 1) for that price...id say that is AMAZING! Great planning and the experience was sure worth it, if we compare that to a western vacation for 13 days, you would need to budget triple the amount at least. Awesome informative video!

In fact a relative of ours is a scout ranger ( Philippine special forces ) even he says its a good place for tourists to get robbed even sometimes they have had police who delay the investigation because they are on the same side as the kidnapping rebels.

I live in Mindanao and the safe areas are in North to East, The Western parts are where most conflicts happen. There are still NPAs in the northeastern parts but they don't target white foreigners. They're communist rebels. Davao is safe although I can't be sure because years ago there were kidnappings of tourists in that region.

Very nice video guys. I've lived in Mindanao for many years. I've travelled it extensively and I can tell you that it is very safe. There have been some bad things happen with Abu Sayef, but the army is constantly chasing those guys. As for the NPA, the locals are WAY more afraid of them than I am. I've ridden my motorcycle deep into the mountains alone on many occasions. I've even had lunch with these guys. They don't care about foreigners - It's the government they're against. As for costs, considering your choices and the family factor, it's still pretty fair compared to a holiday in Europe. You guys did it in style. On a motorcycle with my GF, we could do it for 1/3 of that cost. Maybe less.

That amount, for 13 days, is a lot less than what a filipino family would spend on their vacation. My sister and her two children spent almost double that for just 8 days in Australia. And they stayed at our elder brother's house most of the time! I didn't bother to ask how much she paid vacationing in the states, visiting our two other siblings there for almost a month!

Honestly, we the locals wouldn't experience such a comprehensive (actually, in a nutshell) tour of so many amazing places--interesting and breathtaking sceneries--if not for you. I've been to Cagayan de Oro (w/a big group) and spent quite a memorable 3 days in a beautiful private beach resort (Duka beach) and had toured many spots. Money-wise, total cost which covered all the places you went for 13 days (inclg. accommodation, transportation, driver/guides, meals) is quite reasonable for 3 people + 1 (your personal driver going along w/ you). It was all worth it...as you've said, it's overall the wonderful experience--(quite rare) and a great opportunity doing this during pandemic times. Thank you very much for sharing this amazing tour and journey you had in Mindanao. Looking forward to seeing more of your new finds and discoveries. God bless you all!
