The house plan may be Japanese-inspired, but the furniture and the wooden floors reminds me of my grandparents' house. Including the vintage sewing machine, the mosquitero nets, and the rattan backed chairs.

I agree with you. The interior is reminiscent of my grandparents house too, with the sala set (wooden sofa), solihiya, and even the side table in Story's room which is actually an open cabinet to stack pillows in.

That house is beautiful and so spacious and massive. Great that you get a break from current situations in Siargao. A bit of normalcy.

That's what I really missed about the Philippines, when the sounds of the chicken serves as your alarm clock. 😂😂😂 Although there are some difficulties, (calamities, cost of living is quite higher, block out, etc.) But the people are so friendly and welcoming, and life is so simple. Siargao appears to be a world away from the city's bustle!

definitely a Japanese style house although the doors are not sliding but it’s ok. I like that they kept the interior ceiling open , I also like that the kitchen is separate they should make a walkway towards it. I grew up using one of the black Singer sewing machine.. old wooden chairs. Nice vintage furnishings

The aesthetic is beautiful. I’m glad I understand it’s not a permanent move. Moving from concrete to wood in the Philippines is a iffy prospect with both subterranean and dry wood termites, not to mention the typhoons. It’s truly lovely for “a stay.” When we lived there, we always wanted a “Bahay Kubo.”

It's daytime and the chicken are crowing😃 non-stop , expect to wake you up at around 4:00am😅.....What a lovely and homey place !

I enjoyed watching your journey from Siargao To the town of Carrascal. I am a Filipino but am never been to that place in my life. I was working in Placer Surigao Sur in 2011 to 2012 and went monthly to Surigao City to take our wage. Well thank you so much that I learned so much tourism places from that Region and that place is safe for foreigners. There are some nice tourists places also in my place of the Province of South Cotabato esp. Lake Sebu.

Hi to my favorite family. What a relief to have water! and electricity again! The place where I've been living had the pipes freeze last week (we've been experiencing windchills -25-40 below) and before the freeze we had a major clog that prevented me from doing dishes for an entire month. The house has always had plumbing and electrical issues but it became unliveable after the temps dropped and water stopped. I'm at my sister's place now and so so grateful for her working shower. I took a long, hot bath yesterday. She doesn't have to ask for my help with dishes or cooking because it feels like a treat. She probably wont want me to leave once our plumbing gets fixed. Lol.
