    Ive been playing Tekken for over 10 years and im still getting wrecked in T8 but also having some great wins. It does feel kind of frustrating but with games like this its either learn and adapt or basically uninstall because it isnt going to get any easier. I will say when you find your "main" and dedicate time to learn them it gets REALLY fun and its worth it.

    That's how it went with me and Guilty Gear, found May and loved how she played. I put a lot of hours into that game... Not sure when I'll get T8 but man... That's a mountain of skill to climb and learn.

    @ Do you play on pc or console? Either way something that has helped me a lot is mapping the bumper buttons with certain things. For example on R1 I put LP+RP and on R2 I put LK+RK. That will give you a big advantage. Also L1 I put LP+LK (a throw) and for L2 I put My rage art. I even put my L3 to trigger the heat.

    Every lose has a lesson to be learned. It’s so easy to get emotional. Self evaluation is key. The mind set I carry when I play fighting games is “everything is my fault”. If my opponent is capable of beating me with some cheese flowchart it’s only proof I have room to improve.

    The above is true, but to be honest- you really shouldnt put a lot of stock into your first matches anyway. Theres like, what, 30 characters? All with an insane amount of moves. A lot of people have been playing for years and know these moves. You, as a beginner, dont. How can you blame yourself for losing when you have no idea what the other character even does? Use it to learn the matchup, not think "man, I suck." Even good players get rekt by new characters, because the matchup is new. Just takes time.

    Taking the time to realize *why* you lose is so important when it comes to self improvement in any game, but especially fighting games. You HAVE to develop the mindset that you will lose a LOT, but as long as you relax and learn to just enjoy yourself and actually have fun you will have a good time. Major emphasis on having FUN, and a great way to do that is to set small goals for yourself during your matches like getting a successful low parry, or to punish an attack you struggle to deal with, like daily challenges for yourself. The most important thing is to make sure you go through your character's movelist and see what they are capable of and apply that knowledge in an actual match. It's a long process but once you see how much better you get over time, it makes it so worth it! Keep practicing man you'll git gud eventually so long as you dont get salty and give up! The replay system is also gonna be your new best friend when it comes to analyzing your gameplay I highly recommend trying it out! Good luck with Tekken 8 bro and have fun, enjoyed the video! even more extra points for the street fighter EX music.

    The best way to get better at tekken, as a new player, is honestly just watching a guides on your character. It's not really just about being told what are the "best moves" are but really what playstyle the character is, what their strengths are, their weaknesses. E.g. Feng is good at poking and whiff punishing and as such it's important what moves you have available for that playstyle and how to use them. And then of course you'll learn WHY some moves are even considered whiff-punishers and others are not and the answer (frame-data) will leave you down a rabbit hole of learning more and more about the game.

    Basically dont give up! We all wont be pros but we can all "git gud" as the interwebs says lol and enjoy the fight. Even if ya get demolished 😂 and learning how to defend in Tekken is crucial to getting better. What ive noticed over the years ive been playing, a lot of people neglect throws. Even higher ranked players. Not all but some dont use them at all from what ive seen. Throws can really help make a comeback. Oh and dont the game if you rage quit hard cause it'll cost ya new controllers 😂 had a friend spend hell money on custom controllers just to get his butt handed to him and he destroyed all of them cause he gets way to 🧂when he loses 😅

    If you suck at Tekken, don't worry, you are not alone. I think the only way to enjoy this game long-term is to improve at your own pace, and enjoy it at whatever skill you're currently at.

    I wish more people could see that losing is a learning experience. A lot of players that lose tend to rage quit, report you, add you on a blacklist, or (in extreme and rare cases) take it so personally that they obtain your personal info and do malicious things. It can be frustrating to finally get good at something, only to have sore losers ruin the accomplishment by downplaying your win or take it personally, lol.

    I’m very new to tekken. It’s definitely frustrating when I play against spam grabbing, low spamming, mashy players. When I get my defense down and actually learn the strings of most of the characters, that’s y’all ASS! I’m telling yall! 😂

    This is the mindset you need to succeed in life, nevermind a game. It's sad but telling that many people lack it.

  • 5 ай бұрын

    For sure. It's not easy to truly reach that level of understanding ( at least it wasn't for me, ) but I admit I'm always working on being better than the day before. I hope more people get something out of this.

    Honestly a HUGE part that the FGC as a whole is VERY bad at is treating noobs like training dummies instead of cutting them slack and letting them press some buttons and see of cool things from their character.

    1:07 define "beat the shit out me" cuz rn i just turned the pc off* after a 45 lose streak (not exageration, i just count it on replays) and not being able to get out of the "fighter" rank even tho i get to green ranks in close beta, i feel like everything i learned then just worth for nothing now, this is the first time i get beated so bad in a fighting game, im mid platinum in sf6 wich is not great or even competitive but hey im not a noob but it seems like tekken don't even give a fuck about me :c

    I lose every single round, where is the fun in that?

  • 5 ай бұрын

    You have to take that opportunity to learn, otherwise you won't have any fun. It is much easier said than done though.

  • @MaviLeb

    @MaviLeb

    5 ай бұрын

    The thing is that you can watch the replay or think of the rounds. Find something that seems to be a reason why you take damage regularly. Then focus on just improving that single thing. If the next match happens and you don't take damage in that certain situation or even deal some damage in return, that is your victory - even if you lose the round. Repeat that a few times and the wins will come. That is how you do it. Basically, you beat people in the long term by learning from them, not in the short term.

    The thing is you’re not as bad at Tekken 8 as you probably think. The thing is that probably like 2% of players, play ranked match and they happen to be the people that are relatively good at Tekken.

    Stop spreading the myth that you'd have to invest some insane amount of time to understand the game. "It takes time, patience, understanding and a bit of research." You're putting the cart before the horse. Do effective research and you won't have to spend much time at all getting good at Tekken.

  • 5 ай бұрын

    I'm not spreading any myth. I spent 60 hours on Guilty Gear Strive before I felt comfortable in understanding the game. That's a lot of time for me which is why I stated that. Doing research is only one part, translating that into the game is time consuming. If you can turn that information into actual results faster than most, then great, but it's not a myth that to be GOOD at a fighting game you have to grind which takes time.

  • @Posdrums3

    @Posdrums3

    5 ай бұрын

    @ It is a myth. Just because it took you and me a long time doesn't mean that it has to. There are people who constantly go from game to game, in completely different genres, and acquire the skill very fast. Do you think that's because they're just blessed? No, it's comes down to the quality of practice. You can practice as much as you want but if you aren't maximizing the time you spend then of course it's going to be a grind. I spent hundreds of hours in Tekken 7 as my first fighting game to get where I am, but I've trained a friend in a fraction of that time and now we go toe-to-toe. If the grind really was a fact of life, then that wouldn't have been possible.

  • 5 ай бұрын

    I don't get it. The grind varies from person to person. Your friend had a personal coach that spent hundreds of hours learning and then giving that information to them. I understand where you're coming from, I do, but to say that it's a myth is just wrong. There is no way I'll become a GOOD player at Tekken in 20 hours, no matter the information. A better player than I was before? Sure. But not a GOOD player, which that word in itself is entirely subjective. Good to me may not mean the same as it does to you. Either way, thanks for the comment. Agree to disagree I suppose.

    I kinda agree, yes it takes time to become a pro, but just by learning 2-3 b&b combos, and the essential moves, you can get decent games after 20 ish hours. And then you gradually learn the rest. But you DON'T have to learn the in's and out of every characters hundreds of move to start doing decent. Once you know whats a mid high low, and how to counter them, you learn on the fly afterwards.
