How lack of sleep affects health and tips for a good night's rest
Nearly two-thirds of Americans do not get a full eight hours of sleep per night. Now, researcher Matthew Walker is sounding the alarm about what he calls "the silent sleep loss epidemic." Walker has spent more than 20 years studying sleep and its impact on mental health and disease. Walker joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss what happens to the body when its lacking sleep, why some people shouldn't nap at all and some tips for healthy sleeping habits.

The Joe Rogan show with Matthew Walker is a fantastic show, one of my favourites. There is so much information contained in that one!
Matthew Walker is a genius.
Does sleep prevent people from cutting off guests while they’re talking? If so then these interviewers need a lot of it.
Also most noticeable for me was the hosts cutting off the speakers last word like some rapid fire exercise. If your broadcast is so tight that this has become commonplace, its time to step back and realize it's not the best way.
Stop interrupting him. Let him speaks.
My 1 year old might want to read this book. I haven’t slept through in months and months. I fee physically awful. My mind has gotten used to it (to a degree) but my body is failing.
I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to read Mathew Walkers book! It changed my outlook on sleep tenfold

My 16 year son is having some sleep issue with anxiety. I have purchased the book so that we can learn how to help him and of course us. Anything to learn more about better sleep is never a waste of time. Thank you
Interviewers absolutely positively got 5 hours of sleep the night before.
Thanks 👍👍

I've had mental health issues my entire life...was in a facility as a young teen and have been in and out of a couple of other psych hospitals as an adult. Years of therapy as well. I think the #1 issues I've had over the years is 100% my lack of sleep. Took me till my mid 30's to finally find an amazing med provider that found a med that not only helps knock me out at night, but has few enough negative side effects that I'm willing to stay on it. It's not actually made for sleep at all. I think the med is made for seizures (which I don't have)...what the meds do for me is slow my brain WAY down so it's not racing all night. I use to hate sleep...I would actively fight it. Now I love it and it's extremely important to me.

@@MarquosXoloVanda Seroquel (quetiapine) is one of them that helps me get drowsy, I'm also on this stuff call prazosin that has just about eliminated nightly nightmares I was having, and then the anti-seizure med I take is lamotrigine. But now that I'm looking things up I think I might have things mixed up. I think Lamotrigine is what I use to keep my mood stable, and it's the Seroquel that knocks me out at night. It makes me really drowsy, and it also slows my brain down so my mind isn't racing like crazy while I'm trying to fall asleep. Sorry for the long reply!

@@marias8007 No, I don't actually have a PCP right now and even if I did I would prefer to see a naturopath. It’s interesting to see how his body language & posture changed over the course of the interview due to his discomfort from being interrogated instead of having a conversation.
Just let the man speak and answer the question instead of cutting him off and changing the topic every few seconds.
Wonder what Matthew Walker thinks of the body's cannabinoid receptors and how CBGn, for instance, effects the enhancement, if any, of sleep.

I think a lot of it is fear. The "man" is chasing all of us. I think (possibly pure projection on my part) we all live with the fear of economic insecurity. To me, that is the thread that connects. It is a luxury to live without this fear. I have lived with this fear my entire life. I welcome any responses. Peace.
