How India Hit It Out Of The Park With Legendary Brahmos Cruise Missile | In Our Defence, S02, Ep 21

In this episode, host Dev Goswami and defence enthusiast Shiv Aroor delve into the cutting-edge advancements in India's missile programs and the coveted missile technology programs at large. They examine two significant tests: the successful launch of the indigenous Nirbhay cruise missile and a new variant of the Medium-Range Ballistic Missile, both of which showcase India's technological prowess.
Why is the Nirbhay test off Odisha's coast a monumental achievement for India?
Why is exporting homemade BrahMos, India's iconic missile, to the Philippines a significant development? BrahMos is gaining traction and making a resounding impact in international markets, including Southeast Asia and Africa. Some countries in West Asia have also expressed keen interest. This global interest in BrahMos is a testament to India's growing influence in defence technology, sparking intrigue and awareness among our audience.
Listen in to know more about India's growing prowess in missile technology.

Three caveats:- 1) Shaurya , Agni-P, Pralay are quasi ballistic missiles. 2) Modified Agni-III, Agni-IV, Agni-V may be ballistic in nature but they don't follow predictable ballistic parabolic path after re-entry. 3) All Indian SLBMs follow the same characteristics as missiles of point (2) referred above.

Shiv Sir, there appears to be a lot of confusion in our mind. You are comparing RAM Jet engine with a Jet engine. These are two quite different systems. RAM jets don’t have moving parts and a Jet engine (or a turbofan Jet) has several moving parts. The complexity begins with “METALLURGY” of turbine blades and it’s dynamic balance when it’s rotating with superfast speed inside. I think India is struggling with stable performance of turbine engine that can produce enough thrust. Otherwise, we already have developed Kaveri engine which is a Gas Turbine Engine.

Hey Shiv & Dev ( kinda a bit curiosu if the naming was planned or the jodi was planned names wise :) ) ! But either ways you guys do a wonderful job , the only podcast I follow religiously is this . Kuods , fantastic discussions .. My 2 cents on possible Topic for future discussions : 1. Indian Navy growth and Construction of force , sub surface or above surface - is the 3rd Carrier coming ? hows our submarine force doing and how well will we fare vis-a-vis Pak china ( elephant in room) are we covered for our horn of Africa to mallaca starit responsibility , how are plans for our various bases going , do we plan to allow and keep quiet on the "research ships" of china coming up whenever they wish and observer our missile tests? 2. Indian army Guns - both small arms and big guns - ATAGS, DHanush , and other Vajra .. hows that cooing up ? is the Arjun just a placeholder or will it actually see more use and more volume production instead of token 100 now 100 then orders ( Our current tank force needs are 1000+ tanks - T90's make the buk ) - whats being done about the extra weight on it?

The important point missed out here while comparing cruise missiles and ballistic missiles is not just being sexier as described here...! Both have entirely different mission objectives. Ballistic missiles have a larger payload & range capability than current generation cruise missiles. For short range warfare , cruise missiles are ideal given their stealth Nature.

yeah but you also have to be able to test systems across weather conditions. If you aren't testing because of heavy clouds then well what if there's clouds during wartime and your missiles fail. But if you test with clouds and heavy rain then you see where you fail to collect data and make it full-proof and fully-tested, not partially tested only in ceertain ideal weather conditions.

With huge improvements in Pakistan's Turkish and now Iranian drone and fighter jet capability, thanks to our trading friend China, another Balakot would be a disaster. Last time the Americans managed to persuade Pakistan not to go ahead with their massive retaliation plan after the Balakot attack. We may not be so lucky this time. Unless we have the Israeli Iron dome defense system, we may not be so safe after all. This is the reality.

Boring and confused post.Could have shown some visual presentation / charts to explain how a ballastic missile moves on a parabolic path, how different type of cruise missiles move.A picture is worth 100 words😅.Sorry to infor. after getting bored with timid dull storey telling ,I was compelled to swap the channel. By the way question to Missile Expert- how Missile can be an animal? How it can b saxy ? At least choose words properly .

India will need a million of these if they do work as anti-ship missiles. China's production capacity to build ships is around 200 times that of the US. China no doubt is and will build a large fleet of ships.

Russia provided the Tech, Russia knows the quality of Brahmos and probably has better missiles than the Brahmos. This fellow attributes his nonsensical fantasies to other nation states motivations 😀 Too much jingoism, and jargon and too little substance... of course, the young 'nationalistic' crowd gets drawn by that. All cruise by definition are subsonic, The Tomahawk is battle tested since the Gulf war and the most successful program. All of the Indian missiles are not battle tested, and probably never will be. India ought to focus more or regular military hardware viz., Shells, Guns, Artillery. Rocket systems, Radar systems.
