How I would fix The Kissing Booth 2

Ойын-сауық

Today we engage with the Kissing Booth 2 way more seriously than it deserves to be engaged with and discuss how we'd transform it into a competent piece of teen comedy-drama.

I really like this video. When I first watched the Kissing Booth I was super depressed and it literally revived me. I always had a soft spot for it (while acknowledging how bad it was, objectively). I really like your tender way of describing it!! I also think your script-doctoring of the sequel would have been great. I was a bit disappointed by the sequel but I am also so excited about the third! I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone, but I see myself the first one privately at least a few more times! And just knowing I can is oddly comforting.

I watched the second kissing booth while on vacation with my little sister and her friends. (Never saw the first.) Some of the most fun I've had watching a bad movie in forever. But also, yes, it's wayyy too long. Edit: Chloe gave off such strong sapphic vibes, I agree. I thought that was what they were setting up the whole time.

Okay I watched the movie after watching this video and I really enjoyed it as an experience. But I do see what they were going for with Chloe and Noah, so I disagree a little bit. Like I think the idea of making Chloe a lesbian, which I know you already admitted is a lazy/kind of offensive trope, would kind of skip over a theme I think they were trying to reiterate. The whole series they constantly remind you about how important Lee and Elle’s platonic friendship is even when they both have separate significant others and since you kind of didn’t mention it in your re-write I was pleasantly surprised when Noah said he wanted what Elle had with Lee but with Chloe. It was just unbelievable at first because they’re both like models but as far as trying to stick to the thesis of the franchise I dug that. However, overall I more so agree with your last re-write, growing up and dumping Noah is fine too lol I thought Marco was fine, but I actually felt like she interacted more with Noah than I thought she would based on the video. The DDM contest was hot tho. And when they were practicing in the arcade I was like wtf, there are children here, you guys are breathing super hard all over each other and some poor kid just wants a turn on the machine u guys have been hogging for months lol

It’s so weird seeing all these wattpad stories/fanfics become movies. There’s such a huge dissonance to me. Not to be mean to all the writers out there but my standards are much much lower when I know the story is on wattpad. You read wattpad for your cheesy tropes and cliche lines and eat that shit tf up 😭 plus readers can sorta ignore writers words when they want to. If the characters are wearing ugly outfits you can just ignore that and use your imagination but that’s harder when it comes to movies and you’re actually being physically forced to watch the running back home and the bad hair. Anyways I’m just rambling now, loved the video ❤

I don't agree with cutting out the gay subplot entirely. I would say keep them in and give them something more to do by having them be involved in the overall plot in a way that makes sense and is written well. Eliminating gay characters from any movie shouldn't be an option when we should all know by now that representation is important.

I remember writing bad (fan) fiction as a teen and being completely confused when at some point in my self-insert love "triangle" fic I actually didn't want my main character to be with the love interest anymore, because I had written a better love interest for the "triangle". I feel like that's what growing up is like. Realizing that the stereotypical male character you liked when you were 14 isn't interesting to you anymore ... 😂🥲

I love hearing about people's early experiences with fanfic it's so fun and nostalgic! idk if you watch Jenny Nicholson but this reminds me of the fanfic she read in one of her videos, 'Trapped in a island with Josh Hutcherson', in which halfway through the story the author villainizes and abandons her own self-insert protagonist in favor of another, NEW self-insert protagonist

@@jane-mulcahy Oh yes! I saw that video. I can totally see myself at 14 feeling super mature about distancing myself from my very immature self-insert by writing another (immature) self-insert that kicks the first self-insert's butt. 🤣 Jenny Nicholson is great!
