So 😎! You're such a good cat dad! We're like identical cat butlers 😂 😂 😂 😂 I do the same things for Cleo. I have a cordless water fountain with a filter, and I change the water every 2nd day, and I replace the filter when it's used up. I prep her organic raw food, which is good for 8 days, and I spend about 3.5 hours completing it! Only 8 days, because in case I mess up with regards to balancing the meals, it's short-term. I also change recipes and use different protein sources. In between prepping, I provide her with good quality wet food for a day or two. I clean her litter box 2x - 3x a day! 🙂 Perhaps I'm more OCD in this area 😂 I also trim her nails and butt fur. I'll invest in a trimmer, now that I've seen you do it. It's faster than using a pair of scissors. I also brush her fur and her teeth everyday! 🙂 However, it's still a challenge to get to her molars....🤔...Next vet visit will be in November, which is 6 months from her last check up. Ahh yes, of course! Play, play, play! I tried a peek-a-boo game with her, and got mildly whacked on my head! 😂 😂 😂 😂 My mom thought it was quite funny, because she outsmarted me! I couldn't stop laughing either 😂 😂 😂 😂

WOW you are such a good cat mom! I actually named the channel the cat butler because we are all cat butlers to our cats :). Cleo is in such good hands! So I am not sure what tooth brush you use, but I find the small one helps a lot in getting at the molars. Oh wow how did Cleo whack you ahha.

Cat Butler, I need advice. My cat was a rescue. When I got her, she was literally wild and starving, with worms. I gave her worm medication from the vet, and the vet told me to have her graze on her food. Maybe I should start her on a raw meat diet? Skittles is a great challenge to get in the carrier. It takes both me and my father, and band aids. Skittles won't let me clean her ears, brush her fur, brush her teeth, or give her flea, tick, and parasite treatment. Clipping her claws? Only if I have enough band aids. Same with the upper. I think she feels she's being abused when I try to take care of her. She doesn't know any better. My poor baby has PTSD. I don't know what to do. When it's time for her yearly vet visit, the vet tech grooms her. (Claws, ears, teeth, treatment.) I don't know what to do. I've tried a million brushes. I've tried showing her love and calm compassion. She just doesn't like being handled. I'm still waiting for her to be in my arms. She curls onto my side. My poor baby was badly abused. Poor Skittles. What do I do? Thanks. Shirley and Skittles

I will NEVER groom my cat again!! It took me 2 hours to get all of his hair off my tongue. Lol 😹 I'm joking. My 7 month Ragamuffin Ollie is well taken care of. He is groomed daily, and his teeth are brushed every other day. He is still getting used to getting his teeth brushed, but as he becomes more comfortable, he will get his teeth brushed more. Ollie is my buddy, and I having him is a blessing. In the mornings before my medication kicks in, Ollie will come up and sit on my lap to give me nose kisses. Once I begin to feel better, Ollie will hop off and go lay under the heated table. This is the 1st time I have had a cat. Your videos are so helpful, and I appreciate you for taking the time to make them.

A raw diet will also keep their teeth healthy. Most people don't stop to think that carbs turn to sugars that causes tooth decay. We have little "toothbrush" finger gloves, a silicone thing that goes over your finger with toothbrush bristles attached , as well as chicken toothpaste that makes me gag! For brushing their teeth I recommend PetSmile’s toothpaste rather than Virbac. Virbac is definitely one of the better ones out there but PetSmile is the only VOHC certified toothpaste! Of course, the brushing action in general should work to remove plaque - with or without toothpaste. But if your cat has periodontal disease, I recommend going with PetSmile rather than a non-VOHC approved toothpaste because it’s going to be a lot more effective

Thank you so much for your channel. I've learned a lot about maintenance, and managing my allergies. I would also recommend for the allergies, of you can't afford non-fabric furniture, there are cotton, quilted, drape over arms and back of couch /chair that are totally Washable. I have 3 different colors and change them weekly. Also my longhair domestic which has the fine gossimer hair like your Ragdolls, and she looks like a Siberian... She prefers the cotton to stay cool. 💜 I did have a brush question for you. She hates the wire slicker brush (too harsh), and I have not found a brush she likes that can grab her fur instead of just running through it, except my human, round, synthetic boarshair brush. Do you have any other brush suggestions that work on your Ragdolls?

Hey Cat Butler! So I was wondering. What kind of clippers do you use to shave your kitty’s butts? I got one from Pet Smart and it doesn’t work well at all for long haired cats even though the box said the opposite. Im also looking for a good slicker comb. All the brushes I have gotten for my Balinese don’t work that well with my new Ragdolls because their hair is so thick and fluffy. Not to mention that their undercoat produces some problems too. So what is your grooming setup? Those clippers looked great. The only problem I have run into though is that many of the long haired cat electric clippers have warnings about them being very sharp. One even had a video stating you should run them along an old towel to dull them out. So that kinda made me wary of those clippers. So my new babies are doing so great! They are so affectionate and my little guy Stryker, who just turned 5 months old three days ago, does this thing where he nuzzles his little head under my chin into my big beard and purrs so loud while he kneads it. Then his little nose starts to sweat and his face gets all wet. Its so friggin cute. He will fall asleep with his head using my beard as a pillow. I will fall asleep and wake up hours later and he will still be there. With Skarlytt sprawled out next to me. When I wake up she does these little cute meows with her dainty voice. She meows so soft and gentle. Sometimes making little squeaks. But if she gets left in a room by herself she will sure as heck let you know she has a real loud meow. Actually, neither of my Ragdolls are very loud. No where close to how loud my Balinese are and were. Well not loud, just a heck of a lot more vocal. I am so glad I got Ragdolls. They are so cute and cuddly and my little guy has the floppy Ragdoll trait x10 lol.. He goes limp when you pick him up and you can snuggle him up in your arms and he will just fall asleep like that. Its crazy awesome! Anyone who doesn’t have a Ragdoll has no idea what they are missing LOL. But I had a question for you real quick. So my little male, Stryker, is in his “zoomies” stage. He bounces off the walls and he loves to play with Skarlytt and Skarlytt loves playing with him too but then he starts to get a little rough with her. Not mean or anything, just real rough and Skarlytt will let out a protest in the form of a short hiss before she runs away. But he just followers her and keeps on trying to play rough. Does that ever happen with your male and female? If so, what do you do to try and teach him to not be so rough? Some say I should just separate them for a little bit and sometimes that seems to work but I was wondering if you had any suggestions. He’s not hurting her, but she gets clumsy trying to get away from him and I worry she could hurt herself in the processes since my little guy is so friggin relentless in his teasing lol. Sorry for the long comment, I just wanted to give you an update and ask a question :). Thanks!

Hey I use this clipper: prf.hn/l/MDQlO0a. I always try get a quality product so I don't have to really replace it. The clipper is fantastic and I believe most clippers have warnings to protect against being sued. But they provide clipper guards so you can't cut too short and stop you from cutting their skin. In terms of brushes I use these two: Safari Self-Cleaning Slicker Brush for Cats - prf.hn/l/K98kD2x ○ FURminator Long Hair Cat Deshedding Tool - prf.hn/l/rGROGQD. I am really happy that you are having so much fun with your Ragdoll! If people just meet one in person they would fall in love with the breed! Hey so my cats play rough from time to time. Usually its Arya that annoys Teemo and then Teemo chases after her and Arya hissing at him to stop. Usually the cats teach themselves what are their boundaries. So don't worry unless you really start seeing blood. But this is normal. Hope that helps!

@@TheCatButler HEY! Thanks for getting back with me. I know youtube creators are busy so I appreciate you taking time out of your day to answer questions. LOL. I asked my vet if there was a set of clippers they recommend and they sent me to an amazon site with the same Wahl clippers for dogs and cats so this must be the top of the line. Except i think on Amazon its 180 bucks and on Chewy its 161. Chewy sure is a great place to shop online for pets. I get allot of my stuff from there. Yeah their rough housing is never bad and they never get close to breaking the skin. Actually right now since skarlytt is about 11 pounds now and Stryker is about 5 1/5 pounds, Skarlytt has the size advantage and has ever since i got Stryker. Ever since they met they have been playing like long lost buddies. Its just Stryker is a little hellion on wheels with his zoomies and Skarlytt gets the brunt of it sometimes. And what gets me is that she starts it sometimes. He’ll be sitting somewhere and she will sneak up behind him and pound on him and run away. Then he will keep on and keep on chasing her until she has to hide somewhere high up or in a hiding spot. But her fur has gotten so thick that now when he tackles her he bites her and you should see his face when he keeps getting a mouthful of fur instead of something substantial. Its actually kind of funny because he keeps trying to spit out her fur and once he does he will go in for another bite and get another mouthful of hair. Its just sometimes she hisses at him and runs away. One time I even stuck my hand in place of what he was biting and he didn’t know it was my hand for a few seconds and his doesn’t bite her hard at all. I have looked for marks too. Nothing. So i guess your right. It must be just their kitten phase. I mean Skarlytt is 10 months and Stryker is 5 months and Ragdolls are kittens for like years basically lol.. So im sure it will work itself out.. I just feel for Skarlytt sometimes when Stryker starts getting relentless. Lol thanks again!

Teach them that when they bite it HURTS, this is especially what kittens at that age are learning. No or high pitched shouts of pain should startle them to stop. They want to play not hurt you! There is an interesting technique i learned from "think like a cat" by Pam Johnson-Bennet. When your cat or kitten bites you push your arm in towards the back of their mouth. It's a very unnatural thing for prey to do so they will let go pretty quick. For a 15 week old make sure he has some teething toys and is getting LOTS of play (toys that he can bite into and bunny kick). Kittens, especially without another kitten need a lot more attention from us butlers. Rough housing all day is how they learn the skills they need in adulthood as well as how to communicate. Trust me, i went through it with my siamese mix that I raised alone. Three years later I got a 7 month old kitten as my guy still required more attention then I could give and it got rid of his behavior issues entirely. I'm not saying your cat will be like mine, Siamese are a high energy and intelligent breed that need lots of stimulation, but hopefully this helps getting through the kitten stage.

Chicken is the most acceptable meat for cats in general. I believe the eye issue in Persians is genetic and happens anyways. Hope that helps

My cat used to eat a raw diet until I took him to the vet due to him having urine crystals. :( I was very apprehensive to switch him to a prescription diet, but I would rather have him on that than not being able urinate and potentially dying from the blockage. Seeing him in pain was the worst feeling in the world. I was definitely in the camp that vets aren't taught nutrition as thoroughly as they should and that the push xyz brands due to what they are taught but when your cat has a condition like this I just can't take any chances.

I envy your cats allowing their teeth to be brushed. I'm sure you got them accustomed to it when they were still babies, which I should have done with my cats. And I wish I could adopt your raw diet, but clearly it's quite pricey, but we do the best we can for our cats with the budget that we have. I have tried giving my cats raw and freeze dried meat, but they just would not eat it ☹️

I would say my cats are still not a fan of teeth brushing haha. the teeth brushing definitely didn't happen over night. It was a lot of patience, a lot of patience haha. Yeah I agree a raw diet is definitely pricey. There is some protein heavy wet food that is a good alternative. yeah commercial cat food can be quite addicting. I am not sure what they add in there to make cats go so crazy for it. Even Teemo and Arya go crazy over treats that are not as good as the real fresh thing.

@@TheCatButler but at least they don't seem ready to kill you when you do brush their teeth. I can't even get to properly trim my cats' nails without them acting like they're trying to get out of a straitjacket lol. Do you know of any protein healthy wet food brand you could recommend? I currently give my cat Royal Canin but they have been very unreliable lately as far as availability goes, due to covid. Thank you!

Hey these are the few wet foods that are within the price range of royal canin: ○ Ziwi Peak - prf.hn/l/yOX9wDA ○ Tiki Cat Food - prf.hn/l/QxReYPb Or if your budget is a little bigger. This company I think has the best quality - www.smalls.com/human-grade-fresh Hope that helps!

I couldn’t commit to buy a trimmer fear the sound would make my rag doll scared. instead I just use scissors to trim his butt and paw hair but not the easiest. I often play 20min to hours with my cat and controlling his dry food and recently cut down a bit of his wet because vet said his a bit heavy… but after the food cut down his weight still goes up bits by bits I don’t know how it’s not helping him losing weight. His 14 months old male and about 5kg. Weight a bit much to a optimum weight. But I searched some sight say ragdoll are bigger breed saying it’s still in the normal weight range I’m very confused

Ragdolls do get pretty big. They keep growing till they are 3 years old. Male cats get even bigger than the females. It’s about 20 lbs not sure what that is in kg. Hope that helps!

I need advice. I really want a cat but I'm leaving as an exchange student in 1.5-2 years. I really want to adopt a cat, I've spent hundreds of hours (literally) researching and watching videos because if I ever become a cat owner I'd like to be a great one. I'm highly considering adopting a cat but I'm just now entering college. Part of my college's requirements is to complete at least 1 semester abroad, but my plan would be to complete a year and I'd be doing this in about 3 or 4 semesters (1.5 to 2 years). Would it still be appropriate to adopt a cat now? Despite my wishes, is it better for me to simply hold off on owning a cat until I am settled at a home? Whenever it would be time for me to leave to study a year abroad, I'd be leaving the cat with my parents, both of whom have expressed If I adopt a kitty they would not partake in its care. It is of my belief if I adopt and leave in 1.5-2 years for a whole year, by then I would have the cat obviously litter box trained and with regular feeding schedules, as well as a preferred vet. So effort from my parents to take care of the cat while I'm gone would be minimal. I genuinely am at a crossroads, and I don't want to be selfish in wanting to adopt a cat so I'd like to do what would be best for the cat, not myself. Should I hold off until I'm settled in a few years and live alone?

Hey it is a lot to consider, but good question! And you are very thoughtful. College can be quite a busy time. And maybe you want to experience a lot of things in college. I know myself in college would have been difficult taking care of a cat, financially and just having the time. I think the ideal time be after you graduate college. I hope that helps!

@@TheCatButler it does help! I've asked a few friends as well and everyone sort of agrees the best thing for the cat and myself would be if I hold off until I'm done with college. I guess I'll have to be patient in the interests of being able to grant a cat the best experience possible once I adopt. Thank you so much for responding :)

Hey that is a good question! So cats naturally have a more acidic digestive system meant to kill bacteria, since they are carnivores. Unlike us. And if you source meat from a high quality meat provider you can reduce the risk as well. Hope that helps!
