Definitely one of the thumbnails of all time. When Matt said “it’s squat plugin time” and plugged all over, I cried tears. One of the moments.

I love you for this
As Matt’s squat plug, I can confidently say that he’s got his sh*t together
As matt's personal plug coach, i gotta say i've never seen a man plug with such discipline and ferocity. When you plug like that, the universe just can't allow you to have a bad workout. Keep pluggin' champs!
Usually if I fail even one set I feel really awful until I take out my anger on my family members and significant other. It helps out a lot to have someone there who will cry when you yell at them, just to help you feel better

i appreciate these longer vids man keep it up!
Very nice videos Matt, i love hearing you elaborate about the mental aspects of lifting
This guy has a different mindset. He thinks outside the box, not like the normal person really like your vids. YOU EARNED A SUB FROM ME. Keep up the great work brother
Definitely needed this video this morning. Feel like so many factors are affecting my mindset towards training recently and it’s harder when it’s all out of your control, but this video really helped me shifting that mindset around. Thanks Matt!
Love these longer videos! Keep it up please.
Dig that we think similarly in terms of training. Now as for the squat plugs, I’ll be advertising those on my podcast this weekend
I def enjoy your longer videos. Personally, I love to just have my reps, sets, and weights written out and just lift like a robot, helps me clear my mind after a rough day.
Love the long videos keep them coming
So good. Needed this! God bless!
Great video Matt. I think the mindset of "focusing on what you can control" rather than stressing out on what you can't should really be applied to everything in life, while also accepting that you can't do always a perfect job/session, cause there are too many external factors. You shown up today, and you did your best. You should be proud of yourself cause you are doing more than the guy who gives up cause he can't be on time/get enough protein/get enough sleep/get a smooth squat plug insertion for the day. Shoot out to a three quarter Italian from a four quarter Italian friend with similar SBD ratios.

When the squat plug insertion isn’t perfect really ruins the session

@@babycakes1161 Yeah bro, its really hard to go on with a session when the Squat Plug doesn't fit well. It hurts your ego to size down sometimes.
This man's lifts (bench especially) are super smooth.
Great vid as always Matt🔥

It's being gay that makes you sumo.
The IPF needs to do better. I'm tired of competing against guys using squat plugs. They definitely need to test for them.

Sir, thank you for the content!
I'm on the long sets phase of my program (8-20 reps) and it feels like very little progress is made from training to training. Not a lot of weight, but a lot of fatigue. But I understand it is on the difficult sets that new strength grows. Trust the process. Thanks, Matt.
Good advice!
Can you talk about expected loads - maybe about the mental side of not hitting it and any advice on when to go above the expected.
great video!!!!
Topic idea: explain how you peak/taper for a competition/mock meet or for just trying your 1RM on a given lift.
Beat all the comments to the punch with that thumbnail
Strive to be consistent, but accept that which is out of your control. Always work hard, but remember this is a marathon not a sprint.
Can you make a high frequency stength program that you talked about in an excel sheet? Great content as always!
The same thing can be said for most other skill sets or habits. Enjoy the process and work smart.
i've learned to not go beyond my intended rpe. follow the program.
This is great
Great video
Great video 👍
I'm maybe half as strong as you, but cutting the volume back definitely helped me, so it don't matter your strength level.
Push yourself but not excessively, control the variables (food, sleep, and others), and you should be fine.
Literally the best powerlifter youtuber. U cant tell me otherwise.
I like this way. I can be a perfectionist which ends up with me not completing my workouts. Controlling the controls led is the way
I have definitely been going with a more Bulgarian method as to going by feel for the workout. When i go in planning to do a set weight with set reps exactly, and I am feeling weak that day, it really just ruins the whole session
Can you do a video on how to insert a squat plug? Preferably with a demo
hey matt, you mentioned you used to think the most volume you can handle and recover from will always be the best, but now your perspective has changed. can you give us an idea on what your training looks like now?
Leaving a comment to help boost the video

3:40 the squat plug in question (it's not in cause he's benching)
Good information! Also was curious why you had your legs not planted in some of these clips?
@bengale1263

He’s doing a variation called a “Larsen Press”, it removes leg drive and focuses everything on the top half of your body, so all those muscles are worked more heavily and more upper body stability is required (take this overview with a grain of salt, I’m not hugely familiar with the variation, I know - or at least think I know lol - the basics of it, but some details could be incorrect)
How do you find the right amount of volume that you can still recover from? I find that when I go to the level I want to go to I am feeling overly fatigued, but sometimes if I go easier I feel like I never even worked out.
Topic: hope to build triceps for a bigger bench. Obviously other then the classic “more benching”.
The stoic lifter
Do you think as a beginner you should try to strive to work up to higher volumes and as you get more advanced less volume would be needed?
How many sets are you doing on the squat, bench, and deadlift per week now?
He should go to the physiology lab at SFU , they would have a field day studying him
How’s your bench volume now with the lower volume approach?
This is sick, especially the last part. I feel that social media pushes this idea of "optimization," way too much when it comes to lifting and fitness in general. I think it's causing too many people to give up or be discouraged if they aren't optimizing everything in the holy trifecta (diet, recovery and training). Remember bros, 50%, 25%, hell even 1% of smth will always ALWAYS be better than 100% of nothing.
Good video
Would you recommend swimming shoes for squatting and can i borrow your squat plug
Moving that weight easily!

opinion on lunges and their variations?

Amazing video bro but please do something else besides sbd
liking commenting and i would share if i had friends
Major Robert De Niro vibes from that thumbnail
You seem like a high frequency, low volume, low rep kind of guy. As am I . Do you ever do working sets with high rep counts?
The goal is to get stronger, not to be strong every single session

If one wants to increase strength really fast would you suggest doing daily full body ( the big 3 ) for very low reps 1-3? and low sets( 2-3 working sets)?
Whats your weekly sets for each muscle
