the raw iron bit is the realest shit i've ever heard. Been building map arts on my server for a year now and I've had to toss so many good ideas because it had even a *small* presence on the schematic. I rly hope mojang adds a new block with that color soon because color-correcting to light gray terracotta hardly works

This practice reminds me of the sand pictures that buddhist monks create and then destroy again. The dedication and patience you need for these projects in survival is almost incomprehensible. And just like that he clears his workspace again and again. Remember, everything in life is temporary... but props to my guy here making the absolute best of survival minecraft. 👍

@@kevinparker2409earlier in the video he explained that the block height itself doesn’t matter, it just matters if it is higher or lower than the block adjacent to it. So if you need red, you can either have light, normal, or dark red. Normal is the color when the blocks are flat and light/dark is what you get if you go up or down. If you need to change the color, it doesn’t matter if you go up/down one block or fifty, it will still pick between the three shade options.

You can lock map art?? I’m guessing that’s new with the cartography table functionality? When I was last making map art, I think in 1.12, each map had to always have the physical map built. So I had like 10-15 128x128 staircases in an ocean somewhere, and I constantly had to get the resources for every new map. Though I did use a few luxuries you don’t have, such as I used the (slightly cheay) auto-place feature of the schematic mod I was using, so I could walk around the area and it would place the blocks within my reach for me. I also used carpet dupers to get a lot of the colored blocks I used in the maps. Good times.

Two suggestions: 1. If obsidian is the same color as black wool, maybe consider making an obsidian farm, and replacing the wool base with obsidian. That way, you can use tnt to blow up some of the blocks to speed up the cleanup process 2. If you’re willing to go to all this trouble of making map art (and by all means, what you’re doing is awesome), you might consider building a quarry somewhere in your world. If you fully quarry out a 32x32 chunk area, you can somewhere in the range of 70-78k iron ore. You’d have to do that 9 times to get the necessary amount of iron, but considering how often you said that color comes up it might be worth it

instead of mining it all by hand, you could build a flying machine that flies over and then compresses strips of the map that are 12 wide into a single (or 2) layer(s), then use another flying machine to push them over to a tnt explosion area. granted that is a LOT of effort, but it would fully automate the destruction process.

Some people like certain things I do, but I haven’t seen someone who appears to touch on much of the different nooks, crannies, and corners of what I like.
