HOW I JOINED DELTA FORCE

From hearing about it to living it, my journey to Delta Selection wasn't easy, but it was worth it.

Gary you have a very unique story. would love to hear more about the sort of mentality and discipline needed to make it and succeed in Delta Force and how those principles apply in the civilian world. Subscribed, and looking forward to new content

Ray - I'll try to do a piece on that aspect in a future post. For me it is a combination of believing in a higher purpose, never giving up, a willingness to push yourself beyond what others would, and a willingness to take a lot of pain and stress and still function. it is more about how much "crap" you can take, not how much you can dish out.

I think I was in 2nd Recon Bn with this dude in the 80's. S-3 officer (I think). Cool to see what he accomplished. If it's him. He had an arm injury from being a tow jumper.

I came to 2d Recon in 81 and was a Platoon Commander in A co with Sgt Dixon and crew. Went to the 3 shop after we came back from Beirut at end of 82. Got a busted shoulder from a helo-cast accident at Amphib Recon in 81 but still finished the course. Did not go to jump school till SF and halo in Delta. Where were you in 2d Recon? I am still in touch with some of the guys.

Yes I was. I got to 2nd Recon Bn shortly after the Beirut Bombing in Oct/Nov 83. Ended up in C co to rebuild up the platoon that lost most of their Marines to the bombing (rip). Went to ARS Fort Story in Feb 84. Good times with Capt. Mormon and Koontz. Anyway, congratulations on your impressive career. @@thepowerofprudence

I don't know about this. At what point does a special operations soldier say to himself "I got to get getting in shape" to do anything?

Is it true wen your selected as a delta operator there’s a meeting set up for you in DC and the fbi is notified that your dangerous threat. Kinda like a cat n mouse game of them tryna find you before you get to the meeting

I’m actually wanting to go all the way to delta. I am a female and understand the difficulties of it. Both my mother and father were in the army and my grandfather was in delta. It has always been my dream and goal. And I have a few years to go until I can go to the military but I will never settle until I’m in delta, hell I won’t leave until I physically can’t do it anymore. But my biggest fear is wether or not females actually get accepted into delta. If there is a former delta soldier who is female or male can someone confirm.

Pretty likely that wont happen. The standards are tough for even the best of the best men on earth, and the enemy is not known for being lenient with women, and the US simply wont want that chance on their shoulders.

Good luck! Pretty sure Delta G Squadron has female operators for recon work and other uses, though i would doubt any women are on assault squadrons.
